Default Threads (1984) 40 Year Anniversary

..Well just a few months away from it.

Who else has seen this complete bundle of misery? I only saw it for the first time last year, and then, for some reason, I watched it again last night.

It will completely destroy your soul and quite possibly cure your depression. Happy Viewing.

That is one truly terrible poster.

It's a brilliant bit of TV, but you're right, it's not a happy watch. Scared the living **** out of most of us when it was first broadcast in the UK.

One of the best depressing movies of all time. So glad Severin gave it the blu-ray treatment.

I actually like the poster. It definitely sets the mood of the film.

It's a terrifying movie, absolutely terrifying, and I recall a conversation somewhere, maybe a podcast, where the expert referenced this film and The Day After, and noted that both of these were actually too positive with how they portrayed society, post Nuclear War.

We, as human beings, need to get these weapons abolished as soon as possible. There's no reason for us as a species to have weaponry that could end human existence on this planet. Sadly, I think with the actions we've seen western nations take post Russia's invasion of Ukraine (an action I think was horribly wrong and unnecessary), we're finding ourselves in a situation where a spark or poor decision could be the end of us all. We need to push for peace not just there but world over. I'm tired of all war.

Apparently this is going to be reshown on BBC Four sometime in October. I haven't seen a specific date mentioned anywhere yet.

I've never actually seen Threads but I know it's reputation...I'll definitely be tuning in to experience it for the first time.

That poster is rubbish.

This picture sums it up for most UK folks of a certain age. Bloody traffic warden with an assault rifle. All your worst nightmares come true.

It's on BBC Four tomorrow night (8th October 2024) at 10:15pm.

Time to find out what all the trauma is about.
