Default No manual on how to use my blu ray

1) i purchased a dell xps studio 1640 laptop, dell says they no longer send user manuals with new computers, download version only 2) i went to see the pdf files and other version of manual and says nothing about my blu ray slot load panasonic uj235a bd-re 3) i have vista home premium 64 bit. With roxio creator de 10.2 and power dvd dx..windows media center 11.. 4) i never have known how to record a movie from my slot load drive ,whether regular dvd ,or blu ray as my optical drive is a read and write blu ray ,bd-re ... When i originally purchased this laptop , i was told i could save movie to my laptop, then record the movie as well.. I'm not very literate on how to do this and what kind of disc would be the best to record on as well. Like the best regualr disc and the best blu- ray to record on as well.. 5) i need a step by step process , how to save a movie to my laptop and to learn how to record the movie as well..also in the step by step instructions for me (computer iliterate) can i watch the movie at same time that it is being saved to the laptop..and vice versa can i save to laptop without watching movie then record it to a disc later.. 6) please if you can post a link of a step by step process of how to do all the above , for i'm never have did this before.. Wished i would have gotten a user manual... Thanks in advance for all reply's that can help me with these task, and what software i listed should use to watch or record to laptop as well..

Roxio - burn and copy (non-copyrighted), possible author basic BD content depending on features/plug-ins.

Power DVD - Play CD-Video, DVD-Video, BD Video

Media Player - Won't help you with BD movie playback

Don't bother Dell for your sake. Check for online manuals using help features in PowerDVD and Roxio or search their support sections for downloadable .pdfs. Rarely are the PC suppliers good resources for bundled software or the OS for that matter.

Good luck and learn to carriage return and paragraph.

Yikes, feeling like crap now. Sorry for the sarcasm and pardon me while I remove both feet from my mouth.

Roxio will make content playable on CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray; it will copy CD/DVD/Blu-ray discs provided the content isn't encrypted and copy protected. Roxio has some decent docs - http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/def...ack=m_sup_home and do a search on your question. It can convert audio/video files as it burns to the disc.

Keep the PowerDVD up-to-date. There are frequent patches to resolve BD issues. http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do

You'll have to play Blu-ray from the disc. I don't believe there is a legal way to move the files to another medium. Does PowerDVD not recognize the disc as a Blu-ray movie and try to play it from there? Add to it that a BD could be up to 50 GB. That's a lot of time to copy and space to use up.

Ok Cab: I HAVE ONLY WATCHED 3 MOVIES ON MY LAPTOP. However they were ones I bought from Wall Mart and was regular dvd..I Watched them from PowerDVD DX.. Haven't watched blu ray as of yet.. I'M SURE that blu ray is awsome.. Because REGULAR DVD was good quality.. Like mentioned before not very literate on this technology, and why I needed a (Step by Step of How To, Save a bought movie to my laptop)..With that being said how to do that using Roxio OR PowerDVD or do I need to possibly buy another software, to save regular dvd or even blu-ray dvd to my laptop to watch later without the disc in the optical drive! Which is a (PANASONIC) MATSHITA BD-RE UJ235A ATA DEVICE is what it says in device manager in the cd/dvd rom tab...I went to your previous linkS posted and I'M STILL AT A LOSS.. THANKS AGAIN

Unfortunately, I have very limited experience with BD's and PC's. Prerich is a moderator that is more experienced in this area. Send him a private message and see if he can help.
