So I placed an order through Amazon for a battery. The battery was listed with a seller as an authentic item and not a generic replacement.
When the item shipped I found that the seller had shipped generic versions and I filed an A-Z claim with proof of them shipping the incorrect one and that they had listed an authentic battery. Before the item shipped, I tried to contact the seller through Amazon specifically to ensure that the battery was authentic. I received no response. I specifically stated that if they were not authentic then I wanted the order canceled. The order shipped and I filed the claim that the batteries were wrong. I have not yet rec'd the batteries in the mail but Amazon has processed my refund already and said I won the claim. There are no stipulations for me to return said batteries. Does that mean that I have to pay the shipping costs to ship them back? Or do I just keep them? |

I would just keep them unless you get a response from the company that shipped them asking you to send them back. I've had to file one A-Z guarantee before for a scratched CD that I received and for which I was getting no communication from the seller. After my A-Z claim was approved, my card was refunded and then the seller asked me to return the CD. I had to pay for the shipping, which they said they would refund when they received the CD. I never got reimbursed for the shipping but I had already gone through too much hassle to bother pursuing it.
So you can probably keep them if you have not been asked to send them back yet, but if at some point you do receive communication from the seller, I would be prepared to ship it back at your expense. |

I think that if Amazon takes on the A-Z claim, it means that they have acknowledged that you tried to resolve the dispute with the seller and were unable to because of a lack of communication. If Amazon didn't mention anything about sending the item back in their A-Z confirmation email to you, you should be in the clear. It's tricky though because you might still be asked to return it by the seller so they can recoup their losses.
Now that I think about it, I actually had to ship my item back and show delivery confirmation BEFORE I was reimbursed. It sounds like you probably got a free battery. |
