Default Kellogg’s Planning to Logo Brand Every Individual Corn Flake

http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article...7&in_page_id=2
Quote:
Kellogg's has developed a hi-tech method to stamp out imitation cereals - by branding Corn Flakes with the company's logo.

The famous signature can be burned on to individual flakes using lasers to protect against imitation products.

The laser uses concentrated light which focuses the energy within the beam down to a very small spot on the Corn Flake.

Energy density within the laser spot diameter is sufficient enough to give the surface of the flake a darker, toasted appearance without changing the taste.

If trials are successful, the system could be used on Kellogg's other brands including Frosties, Special K, Crunchy Nut and Bran Flakes.

'In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of own brands trying to capitalise on the popularity of Kellogg's corn flakes,' said Helen Lyons, lead food technologist at the company.

'We want shoppers to be under absolutely no illusion that Kellogg's does not make cereal for anyone else. We're constantly looking at new ways to reaffirm this and giving our golden flakes of corn an official stamp of approval could be the answer.'

About 128billion bowls of Kellogg's Corn Flakes are eaten worldwide every year in countries as far afield as Guatemala, Japan, Argentina and India.

I know I hate when I buy Corn Flakes and I find out they are counterfeit. What peace of mind this will bring to know I'm not getting black market Corn Flakes.

I sometimes fear that the counterfeit cornflakes has swineflu or anthrax.
I can relax for the rest of my life now...

Yea, when I pick up that store brand box of similar product and find out that it's not Kellogg's Corn Flakes inside, I feel like I have been ripped off.

I was going to go as a Corn Flake this Halloween but not I'll only be mocked. "HAHA you're a Walmart Flake", they'll say. No candy for me

Heh. I find that strange. Wouldn't it be just too expensive to brand each and every Corn Flake? I mean, just think about it.

According to Consumerist Kellogg's has no plans to do this at this time:

"Kellogg's UK has no immediate plans to roll out this initiative — although exploration of the capability was underway. In the US, we have no plans to roll out this initiative."
