Hey guys i was thinking of replacing my current home theater system, I was quite interested in the Panasonic SC-BT200, It seems to be good value for money and has got a lot of good reviews.
Now there are quite a few conflicting articles about whether this system is 7.1 is 5.1 Basically i think it would be nice to have 7.1 but its not completely necessary, What it seems to be is that the UK version is only 5.1 but the USA version is 7.1 Although the UK site John Lewis states that it can be made 7.1 wireless by buying the additional 2 speakers here Its odd as when i look up the user guide it says nothing about the possibility of making it 7.1 Can anyone help clear this up for me? Many Thanks Craig |

I am in the UK and have recently bought this system. You can buy extra speakers for the rear but this will not give you true 7.1 sound. The same stuff is simply sent to 4 rear speakers not 2.
This is a good solid blu ray system and I got it as I have a small living room and wanted entry level blu ray. I also plug my sky hd box into it and this enables the sky surround system to work through it via an optical audio cable. Football is esp good in surround sound! You should be able to pick it up for 400. The one drawback is that you have to use the supplied cables and cannot use your own. I got the wireless set up as well which reduces greatly the amount of wires around the room Hope this helps |

Many thanks for your swift reply, The reason i am asking is cause i basically have its old dvd counterpart connected to my Sony BD-550 blu-ray player over optical but the issue is it doesn't support DTS over optical (And most studios are using DTS these days) It does a fine job using the prologic 2 decoder to make it 5.1 but im thinking of just moving it all into my other room and buying this for my main theater room
Would you say that the additional two speakers to make it 7.1 are worth while? (all be it that it would not be true 7.1) Many Thanks |

No, I would spend the extra cash on the wireless set up rather than 2 extra speakers and leave it at that. Good luck - I hope you get what you are looking and hoping for.
