gladiator and braveheart locked? - Blu-ray Forum

These 2 paramount movies are reported to be locked. why these two -plus dexter?

It seems abrituary to me, they pick some out of a hat out of 30 titles and lock them.. What are they sniffing at Paramount.. plus fox's bulk of BDs are locked. but for a small chosen few. What the hell is going on??

Who gets the call on what is locked and what isn't? the director of the movies or producers of a tv show?

Paramount only has distribution of these titles in North America, which is why they are region locked. Other distributors have the rights to them abroad, so most likely they came to an agreement to region lock them in their respective territories to prevent importing and cutting into the other distributor's market.

Paramount owns the rights for Gladiator and Braveheart in the US
Universal owns the rights to Gladiator internationally
Fox owns the rights to Braveheart internationally
Simple as that.
