Nascar seems like a huge waste of fuel, which is a limited resource.

I did win 150 on Michael Waltrip in the Daytona 500 a couple years back though. That ruled. Everyone wanted to pick Jr. so I just picked a random guy.
So that's a no?

Edit: American's use over 350M gallons of gas...a day. NASCAR uses under 200,000 in an entire season...for all of its cars.

Baseball probably uses more than that getting to and from all of those games.

Ya I'll be watching. The Bud Shootout the last Saturday was good. Glad that Harvick won. The Duels this Thursday should be good.

The Daytona 500? It will probably be a snoozfest as usual. Good the first 50 laps are so..horribly boring in the middle and awesome the last 10-15 laps lol

They didn't play the shootout here because of a Saints special for the Superbowl

The Qualifying races are easily the best ones of the week the last couple years.

You're probably right on with the prediction for the 500

I used to be a HUGE Nascar fan during the 90's, but when the new young guns started showing up after Earnhardt's tragic passing I began to lose almost all interest in it. And also Washington DC finally has a major league baseball team to occupy my attention now.

However I will always try to catch the Daytona, Talladega, Bristol and the two road courses when I can as I can't stand quite a few of the newer cookie cutter tracks that they have now.

I'll be watching it Diesel Big fan of restrictor plate racing .The last 3 or 4 years they had taken the fun out of it by controlling it to much . But this year they chilled out on it & put it back into the drivers hands with A bigger plate & no rules on Bump-drafting ! The shoot out turned out real good , So I'd say the 500 will be A great race

Nothing like watching Bumper-cars at 200 MPH

I didn't know they used a bigger plate this year

Maybe we'll have a good race after all.

I love restrictor plate racing (been to Talladega twice) when they aren't babied...

I was supposed to go to that race but decided to take a year off. Probably going to the fall race this year.

One day I want to go to Bristol

Now that would be A blast . 160,000 people - Grand stand seating - 1/2 mile track ~ That would be A Big party

Yeah i'm watching...I'm a Junior fan, hopefully this year goes better for him than last year did. I hear him and Mark Martin have been sharing ideas on setups and we all know how well Mark did last year.

Same here, Jr. fan.

Yea last year was terrible...

3 wins and a top 8 points finish this year and I'll be satisfied

Another Jr. fan here.

I think it's now or never this year, guys. Not sure what more they can do to put him in a good position.

On a side note - did you guys hear that they tweaked the Green-White-Checker rule? Wanting to not end races under caution, they're now allowing three chances at the G-W-C instead of one. I think a lot of crew chiefs will be at the end of fuel mileage races.

Its definitely now or never time for him to ever win a championship. If he doesn't get one in the next two years I seriously doubt he'll ever get one. I just want him to get ONE at least, more would have been nice, but it is unlikely unless he makes an insane upswing in performance.

He already let 2004 slip away with two 33rds at the very end of the season, had that not happened he would have gotten the Cup

Really? I'm glad, one try only is stupid, I hate ending on a caution, it sucks. But yea you are right, the fuel mileage gambles will be even more now.

The Duels are today btw.

Duel races were good. Harvick almost won again...but of course #48 wins again..It will be unfathomable if he wins a 5th championship..in a row.. this year.

Dale Jr = Kyle Petty.

I used to be a fan of Dale Jr..Last couple of years he's seems to be more caught up in the image than actually being a winning race car driver. With the resources at Hendrick he should be doing better. Tony Stewart's team is basically a Hendrick satellite team and look what they did last year. It's time for Jr. to nut up or shut up lol

Once again NASCAR rule books are written on a chalkboard..

I liked the sudden death GWC rule. 3 chances is ridiculous. I remember watching a truck race a few years ago before they changed it to only one GWC. They had 6 GWC restarts. A truck ended up on it's side lol

They'll probably tweak it mid-season to 2 tries instead of 3.
