"A Serious Man" Review Thread - Blu-ray Forum

All i can say is if you love the Coen brothers, then you'll love this. I'm sure it will get better with every viewing and i really love the fact that no huge name actors are in it. Adam Arkin and George Wyner are probably the most well known, but every actor was perfect for the role.

I wasn't as impressed with it as you. Yes, I love the Coen bros, but a few of their films have fallen flat for me, including Intolerable Cruelty and The Man Who Wasn't There. One of the reasons this didn't work for me was the lead actor just wasn't convincing when delivering the complex emotions and situations he had to deal with. I couldn't make a connection to his inner world. Another was that it seemed to boil down to a cliche message that religion holds no answers.

I had high expectations for A Serious Man, and while parts of it were funny in that quirky Coen bros way, it was mostly a let down.

The trailer for this was priceless...one of the most creatively put together trailers I've seen (namely the "music"

I just searched around and I see why it's off my radar. The movie is playing in the art house theaters in my area and not in the Cinemark theater near my home. I'll watch the movie when it's released on BD.
