I just think it's ludicrous this far along in the format that a studio will release an interlaced disc when the source was not. If that was all that's available fair enough (e.g. old film with only an interlaced master in existence) but in the case of a new release (from THE SAME studio as the US release no less) there is absolutely no excuse. Add on the PAL speedup issue and it's just flat out unacceptable on a new release.

This is them trying to pass off something prepared for broadcast as being acceptable for release on Blu-ray. Not on.

Ever since Sony and Universal joined up they've been doing "a Roadshow".

Didn't know the local release was 1080i/50. Looks like I'll be getting the U.S. release instead.

Did anyone else have a bit of a laugh when Sam Worthingtons Aussie accent slipped out when he was yelling and swearing near the end?

I'm kinda past that now. He does it in just about every movie. Any time he gets animated it goes straight back to Orstraylian maaaaate.

I hadn't noticed it before, but it was quite clear when he yelled "F'n C***!"

He loses it a few times in Avatar and Terminator Salvation. It's always when he's trying to put on his tough guy American accent. That's when you'll find it come through on some words.

Some actors just struggle big time with it. I love Gary Oldman but it happens to him when he gets animated too. His conversation with Batman and Dent on the rooftop of police headquarters in The Dark Knight is a great example. When he's talking about the marked bills and the mob knowing they were raiding the banks he has a few major British moments.

I prefer it when films in the 1.85:1 ratio are open matte, but that's just me.

Why? It's so minimal as to be nearly imperceptible.

Warner do that to all their 1.85:1 releases on BD, for some reason.

True especially in the dark at night, but with the natural lighting during the day, even though the difference is still small, I simply prefer it if given the choice.

I prefer the 1.85:1 ratio to be retained, but at the same time, opening it up is not a deal breaker.
