I think this one will work for you, but I would call and verify before buying it.

Only the early models had a digital output. Make sure your machine has a digital output on it before buying anything.
It is not the same hole that the normal cable goes into. The component cable does not support sound. So you will need the current cable for audio, and the component cable for video. When the game starts loading, keep your hand on B button until you are prompted to enter progressive scan mode. Voila. |

Those GameCube Component Cables are hard to come by. $80 doesn't surprise me for a price. I gave up on looking for one some time ago as my understanding is the Wii will play GameCube games. $80 toward a Wii is better than to a component cable IMHO. I will let you know if I ever decide to get a Wii.

Plus, you can get component cables for the Wii for like $4 on Monoprice.com (I prefer 1st party, though). Also, with the Wii, you don't have to hold the B button like with the GameCube. The Wii automatically prompts you if you want to run the game in progressive scan.

If I remember correctly, Nintendo consoles used the same plug and types of cables since the nintendo 64. I think you might be able to use a Wii component cable on a Nintendo 64, if so you problably should be able to use it on a gamecube. Sony does the same thing with the playstation can use the same component cable with a PS3. Microsoft didn't incorperate the same cable plug in with the Xbox 360 however.

Right now, I'm using my N64 cables on my SNES and I know you can use the GameCube AV cables on the N64. However, if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure the component cables used a different plug on the GameCube, which (as someone stated earlier) is a digital plug that can't be found on the later generation models.

Weird thing is that nowadays, I only use my GameCube to play Game Boy games (classic and Advance) in my TV, since I use the Wii for GC games. And so the only value I see for the Cube nowadays is to play GB games on your TV; but you will need a Game Boy Player adapter and disc which nowadays are also hard to find like the GC component cables.
