A host of familiar genre faces including Hal Holbrook (Creepshow), Rutanya Alda (Amityville II: The Possession), Julia Montgomery (The Kindred) and Lauren-Marie Taylor (Friday the 13th Part 2) rounds out the cast of this gloriously mean-spirited slice from the slasher golden age, Girls Nite Out! The students of DeWitt University are preparing themselves for a night of fun and frolics in the form of an all-night scavenger hunt. Little do they know that they are in fact the ones being hunted... An unhinged assailant, disguised in the college's goofy bear mascot outfit - and bearing knives for claws, two years before Freddy donned his famous gloves - is stalking the campus hellbent on carving up co-eds. Originally released under the only marginally more appropriate title of The Scaremaker, Girls Nite Out is a decidedly singular slasher flick which comes on like a frenetic cross between Animal House and Friday the 13th - veering from jovial frat antics to jarringly disturbing scenes of the killer shrieking obscenities a

Awesome. Have a soft spot for this one -- definitely not a top-tier '80s slasher, but certainly not bad, very enjoyable, especially if you dig slashers that double as fun college-campus hangout movies a la Final Exam. I'll be picking it up for sure!

I love slashers, but I've surprisingly never seen this one. I feel like, for the most part, you can never go wrong with an 80s slasher. I mean, even the crappy ones, can be entertaining enough. Anyway, for those that are fans or have seen it, which slasher would you compare it to? Would you guys say it's a safe blind buy?

What other titles do they have left that would be worthwhile reissuing through Arrow?

It's a super fun slasher but you really need a strong tolerance for The Lovin' Spoonful to get through it. Glad it's finally coming and thrilled it's from Arrow.

For those asking for opinions on this, and this is just my opinion obviously, but this is one I have been eagerly waiting on an upgrade for. It’s a good slasher with some pretty eerie moments, and a memorable costumed killer (as seen on the cover) who is actually quite vile while murdering the victims, uttering ugly insults during the attacks. It’s sort of over the top but manages to be disturbing imo. It’s not the most violent slasher, but it doesn’t shy away from the killings either. The ending creeps me right out too. I definitely recommend it to slasher fans.

The Ogre (aka Demons III) is my number #1 want. Others I wouldn't mind upgrading are The Chilling, Bad Girls Dormitory, and The Curious Case of the Campus Corpse. By no means great (or even good) movies but fun nonetheless.

Did a double take when I saw this news. This is one of my favorite slashers and has been on my wishlist for years. I thought Vinegar Syndrome may do it, but I’m just as happy with Arrow. This is a huge one for me.

So was this made in '82 or '84? I thought the Shriek Show DVD listed 1984.

YES! I can finally dump the old DVD seeing as the only extra on it (Archival video interview with actress Julia Montgomery) is included on Arrow's Blu-ray.
