Default Pro Logic II or Neo: 6?

I've been playing around with both for a little while with CD's and was curious as to which decoding method some use or if you don't use either. I'm not quite sure, but I think they're both great depending on the music. I think regular rock/pop/r&b sounds better on Pro Logic II while classic/orchestral music sounds better with Neo: 6. Neo:6 does seem to preserve the standard 2 channel FL/FR for CD audio better. I have the center width/image for both where I want it, so it makes for an interesting comparison. Just curious to see what everyone uses or doesn't use.

No one has an opinion? Strange, considering that this is the internet and all.

Neo:6 delivers better bass on my Pioneer receivers. Both modes are good for spacial separation, but my favorite mode for music is 7ch Stereo.

Neo:6 is a bit less center-heavy as well.

That is one of the main reasons I'm using Neo: 6 for orchestral music. Too much seems to come out of the center for CD's. But I like for the vocals to come out of the center, so I think PLII is good for rock/pop CD's.

Neither. I definitely use 2 channel stereo for CDs. Very rarely I'll try one of Yamaha's DSP programs, but they don't utilize Neo 6 or Pro Logic II.

It depends on my mood. For a subtle ambiance I use Neo:6. If I want to give my surrounds more of a workout I use PLIIx.
Each has it's own advantages IMO.

I use source direct for CDs. Left and Right full-range speakers, no sub, no dsp, tone-control by passed. Some rare occasions I use stereo mode with 2ch+subs, tone-control by passed.

The more I listen to CD's with Neo: 6, the more I like it. Everytime I toggle back to PLII, it just sounds muddled by comparison. I think I've settled on Neo: 6 for just about everything.

On my Yamaha receiver I never use any of the surround decoders, I always stick with 7 channel enhancer. Oh yah!!
