Default CSW theater

Theater done, until I decide next week to change something. The project has taken almost 2 years to get to this point because of the different things I wanted to do with the room. The computer is a DIY project that is probably overkill (is there such a thing in Home Theater). It controls all FLAC files. The CD is just for looks now. The speakers are even DIY. These things will absolutely sing. I was pleasantly suprised by their staging, presence and capacity to shake the walls. One of the best projects I've decided to tackle. I'm happy with the results based on my ability. There are so many great theaters on this website and it certainly has been an inspiration to take home theater to the next level.

I think it looks fantastic except for the location of your front speakers to the walls next to them. Do you get any reflections of the walls to the sides of your front speakers?

I think you bring up a good point about speaker placement. All box speakers should be moved away from walls. Sound radiates from all directions, not just the front. The lower the frequencies are, the more the sound will wrap around things in the listening room. A good rule of thumb is to pull the speaker out at least 1.5 feet from the back (minimal), but side walls can be worse. Toe in or place acoustic material to the sides if possible. sokrman14, you come to forks in the road and you have to make a decision on listening to music the wrong way or listening to your wife complain that the room looks horrible because of the treatments. I choose the first option with movies, but I do move them out for 2 channel music. Great question and thanks for the compliment on the room.

Beautiful Home Theater - especially as most of it (speakers too?! ) is/was DIY Projects.

Ahhh, yes - TRIUMPH - "Lay It On The Line", great band, great song. Canada's 2nd best Musical Trio (I am a MASSIVE "RUSH" fan, but Love TRIUMPH as well).

My High School yearbook quote: "I'm Young, I'm Wild, & I'm Free. Got the Magic Power of the Music in me..."

[Show spoiler]I met them, kind of, when they played at this theatre sized place back in 81' or so ("Allied Forces" tour). I lived in Worcester, Mass. & was walking on the side of the bldg (side street actually), & a Huge White Stretch LIMO pulls up, a Big burly guy gets out, puts his arms out so I have to stop & wait, & Gil, Rick, & Mike all get out & walk right into the theatre!!! I was like, , as I was/am a Huge fan then & now, especially of GIL MOORE's Drumming & Lead Singing. That was the tour where his kit was finished completely with little tiny reflective mirrors. Very very cool. I had 2nd or 3rd row seats & remember it like it was yesterday...
