Default Question on Onkyo TX-SR607

Hi, been searching the forum all morning and have almost everything answered as far as setting up my HT. I read that in order to get some true HD 5.1 sound I am going to have to use a HDMI cable from PS3 to receiver.

My question is however a PQ question. Will using the HDMI cable from PS3 to my reciever suffer any overall picture quality loss using the receiver as a pass-thru in comparision to hooking the PS3 straight to the TV and then using a optical cable from tv to reciever (with the chance of overall audio quality loss).

Thank-you in advance.

I am a long time lurker and really didnt want to post until I was 100% set up with pictures and such but this dilemma has me stumped.
