Default Viewsonic PRO8100

Has anybody seen this projector in action? I can't seem to find many customer reviews.

Yes, I still am. I have read through a lot of the avs forum thread but it seems to be more settings/troubleshooting than reviews. Do you have your's in it's final location and screen yet?

How does it compare to your DLP?

they(a few have a good deal of experience) are saying you would have to spend over $2000 to get a better picture. and at that, it wouldn't be much better.

yes, mine is mounted pretty much where its going to be. lense about 6' from floor. and just below the top of the 4'x8' screen. that i am going to DIY S-I-L-V-E-R paint, on this weekend.

remember, my screen is not done yet. but, the picture is very nice. i have yet to do any tuning, just the basic settings. i have not used it much, just got it. "they" say the picture gets better with adjustments. and if it does, i think it will, its going to be worth more than i paid for it. the picture has less "grain" than my untuned dlp. i have yet to put a high quality movie on it, i'm saving the good movies for after i have it set up better. i expect a good movie, like CARS, to go BAMMMM !

this machine will do the panny3000 2:35 zoom thing. its just not automatic. it takes about 10-15 seconds to do it with the remote.

there are lots of reviews in that thread. just have to find em.

oh. i'm NOT trying to sell you. just sayin what i have found so far.

i screwed up the 1st paint job. had to strip it. repainted today, i am waiting for it dry now.

here are some pics from the first attempt. the pics just don't do it justice, as far as detail go. the colors are just that bright.

Great screen shots!

I can see my system looking very similar to yours in a year or so...

Nice job and you have some nice equipment too. I think the paint job looks good now. I just added some curtains behind my LCD TV, as my new pj and pull-down screen come today. I'm looking forward towards playing with my new toys tonight!

Get a black border around that and the image will appear even brighter and more 3d in appearance (the more you can black out around the screen the more this will come true, even contrast improves, the difference when I went from hanging just white with no black around it, to almost having a complete black wall was trully mesmerizing). Then again, I know it may not be appealing to paint the wall behind it black, but non the less I think its worth considering.

my screen floats 12" off the wall. the wall looks black with the lights out at 8100 running. but i am working on acoustic panels that will be black.

SPEED RACER is coming for this weekend =

You will still notice a significant difference. Speed racer is absolutly eye burningly bright and beatifull in terms of PQ, though the AQ is sadly only lossy, albiet descent there is clerly room for improvement here (though I don't show speed racer as demo material as many find it to much to take, ).
