I ran a search for concert and found several "so and so BD concert" threads and concert wish lists, but no actual thread on concerts you have attended!! I'm a huge fan of live music and over the past...6 or 7 years have seen as many concerts/shows as I can afford! here goes!!

Beastie Boys: GREAT SHOW! My first concert ever!! What a way to start, they are incredible performers, not a dull moment. I was happy to see them perform some of their instrumental stuff only as well. A great mix of old/new songs, I certainly hope MCA fully recovers from cancer, that has to be their #1 priority. After that, I hope they can get this show back on the road!

Metric: A small, lesser known band hailing from Eastern Canada. They have some ROCKIN tunes! I've seen them 3 times now, highly suggest if you like rock music.

Wintersleep: These guys are pretty darn good. My gf listens to them, I've seen them perform twice. Hard to describe their music, give 'em a try.

Billy Talent: I REALLY enjoyed their first album, so when Billy Talent II came out and a tour shortly thereafter I bought my ticket and away I went! They put on a highly energetic show. They rock pretty hard and I'm excited to see them again in March 2010.

Metallica: Arguably the best show I have seen to date. They played a lot of old stuff. I LOST IT when they started playing "One." You could feel the energy in the air, the fans were really great, I haven't felt so charged up for a show. I definitely lost my voice during that concert, screaming and shouting like a fool.

Queens of the Stone Age: This is my favorite band and they did not disappoint. This had by far the most memorable ending, the bass player's guitar crapped out, the guitar tech couldn't fix it, to cover up Josh Homme dove into the drum kit and the show ended. One band member looked CHOKED and stood still and silent for a full minute or two before he left the stage. The best song they played was No One Knows, the version they played was super long and super awesome!! On a related note, I can't wait for "Them Crooked Vultures" to release their album next month!

Eddie Vedder: In 08' EV played a solo tour. I lucked out and scored tickets from a friend. He played a good mix of songs from Into the Wild, his solo stuff and even a few Pearl Jam songs. It was an intimate show, played in The Centre for Performing Arts in Vancouver. He shared a lot of cool stories, and conversed with the crowd throughout the show. One of my favorite shows by far.

Pearl Jam: Let me rescind on my comment about Metallica. THIS was the best show I have been to! Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands and they put on a great show. Eddie Vedder discussed why the band has been so proactive with protests, raising awareness, etc. He told the crowd a part of it is because of Terry Fox. The crowd went WILD because there is a school here named after Terry Fox. Eddie Vedder went on to say, this next song is for Terry. Again it felt like a more personal experience because of the interaction, discussion and story-telling. I highly suggest PJ.

Foo Fighters: I'm not a huge fan, but my gf loves them. I bought tickets for her bday, we went and it was a good show. Certainly a must-see if you're a fan.

NIN: What a crazy show!! They had a cool screen in front of them? Behind them? It displayed all kinds of crazy images while they played. Like the Foo Fighters show, I'm not a huge fan but glad I saw them.

Blue Man Group: Almost a cookie cutter performance as their blu ray (saw them during that tour). A very fun show.

Eminem plus G-Unit: The opening act was well worth the show! Saw all of G-Unit perform. 50 Cent played after the smaller acts and he was an outstanding performer. Eminem came out and played some great stuff. This was my first and only outdoor concert, taking place in Texas (2004?) Had a great time with my bro and in-laws.

Snoop Dogg feat Ice Cube: Ice Cube blew Snoop out of the water!! Ice Cube worked the crowd, played lots of great hits and had a better show overall. Snoop was disinterested in interacting with the crowd. His effort consisted of "How y'all doin out there?"

I think I'm missing a show or two in there somewhere. I'd love to hear about fellow blu-ray.com experiences.

i don't even know where to begin. probably been attended close to 800-900 shows over the past 11 years. i get into a lot for free due to just knowing people at the door or someone in one of the bands.

never really been to a "big" band concert though, heh. i mostly go to hardcore & metal shows.

one of my favorite shows ever though was The Haunted/Bleeding Through/Shai Hulud back in 2002 or so. Bands were so good.

Also ... Between The Buried And Me gives me chills every time I see them.

Couple of my highlights:

Led Zeppelin at the O2 Arena: Quite possibly the most in-demand gig of all time and I managed to get a ticket! As you'd expect the band were amazing! I hadn't seen many videos of them in their prime so I can't compare but I massively enjoyed it. Plus it gives me great bragging rights

Metallica at the O2 Arena: Another amazing gig. James Hetfield seems to have lost the 'menace' in the voice when he performs live but they still played unbelieveably well. This was the gig where I had a M & G with them which made it ultra-special!

Dream Theater at Wembley Arena: Despite only give an hour and a half slot this was one of my favourite gigs. These guys are unbelieveably talented - watching a Portnoy or Petrucci solo is breath-taking. Mostly played stuff off BC&SL. Again I had a M & G for this as well which always adds to the occasion

The Killers at Cardiff International Arena: Perhaps not the biggest to played the arena - but they put on one hell of a show. So much energy throughout the show that you couldn't help but kept swept along with the bouncing and mass singing-along. They have numerous crowd-pleasers (Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me, Spaceman etc.) but when they closed their encore with 'When You Were Young' - that was about a good an encore as I've encountered.

Tool x 2
Radiohead
They Might be Giants
Ozzfest
Ben Folds
Blink-182
Pointfest x 3
Modest Mouse x 2
Death Cab for Cutie
Sufjan Stevens
Paul McCartney
Beastie Boys

Probably my favorite was the Coachella Music Festival back in 1999. The main stage ended the day with Rage Against The Machine and Tool playing back to back. I pretty much idolized Tool back then and to see them literally up front was just something else. That massive crowd just swayed back and forth like nothing I've ever been a part of. And seeing Rage and all the great music acts all day before Tool came on...that day is one I'll never forget.

Beach Boys (REALLY young, don't remember most of it)
Billy Joel (again, really young, really wish I remembered it . . . one of the concerts I want to see most right now)
Indigo Girls Not my type of music at all. Went with a girlfriend in high school in an attempt to try and fix a failing relationship. Should have stayed home, both due to the relationship and the band.
Aerosmith x2. Both great shows, both in '99 before the train wreck they have become (although some would argue that train wreck happened well before that ). First one was the first show I went to with a group of friends in high school and it was a great experience.
Marilyn Manson x4. The first show in '97 is still one of the best shows I've been to. Really great stage show to support a killer album. Second show in '99 (on Good Friday, which we found ironic), third in '01, fourth in '03. All the shows were awesome, but that first one was a step above the others.
Tool Saw them on the Lateralus tour in 2001. AWESOME show, but I was a pretty casual fan at the time. I've gotten way more into Tool since and wish I had better recollection of the show. Definitely not a band I'll miss if I have the opportunity.
Nine Inch Nails x4. First in 2000 (with A Perfect Circle opening ), second in '05, third and fourth in '09. The last show was my first road trip concert in Charlotte for their last show for the NIN|JA tour. NIN never disappoints. Really going to miss their shows now that he's in tour retirement.

Just to add my own spin on the thread, these are some shows I want to see:

Nirvana (obviously won't happen). I got into Nirvana a year or so after Cobain's death, always wished I could see them live.

Meat Loaf circa '94. I love some of his songs, but he's tough to watch nowadays. He's still got the voice, but he mucks with the timing of his songs so much live that they sound sloppy. Sadly he's the weak point of most of the recent shows I've seen of his (recorded), as he's always got a kickass female lead and his band is always awesome.

Billy Joel/Elton John - I've vowed that no matter what the price I will see this next time they come to town. Something I'll always regret if I miss.

James Taylor - There are two songs that, if played, would make the whole concert worth it.

Metallica.

Guns 'n Roses. Would prefer the original, but I'd still go see the new lineup.

That's all I can think of. Can't wait for another Tool tour!

I've only been to two concerts. Both were for the band Erasure.

The first one was at Irving Plaza back in April 2005 for The Erasure Show Tour in NYC. At first they only booked like five days there but the tickets sold out within half a day for all shows so they had to book another ten performances which also sold out within another half day. I even got to meet them beforehand at the Barnes and Noble in the Time Warner building at Columbus Circle! Very cool dudes.

The second time I saw them was in Brooklyn for the Light at the End of the World Tour. I forget the name of the venue but it was outdoors and in a gigantic pool that was no longer in use. Had a great time there, too!

Their shows are colorful, loud, and of course, campy. But it's Erasure so what the hell do you expect? It's amazing how many Erasure fans there are here. I had no idea there were so many! I can't wait for their next CD which they are currently writing somewhere in NYC. They better do another tour!

Front Row - Alice Cooper in Oct 2008. Caught some of his fake money during Billion Dollar Babies. Was amazing being so close to the greatest rock entertainer of all time! Also saw him in 2006 which was great as well.

Motley Crue 2006 - 2 girls beside me took their tops off and started kissing on Tommy Lee's t****-cam segment. You could see my arm on the big screen haha

KISS July 2009, wasted 300 bucks on a so-called VIP seat that was way too far away and off to the side... couldn't even see the KISS logo on the stage.

Guns N Roses in late 2006, expected the worst and ended up blown away by Axl and his new band. Slash who?

Marilyn Manson last month, was ok... place was half empty but he seemed pretty into the show

I guess those are the stand outs.

I lost track of how many shows I've been to; which most of them were metal shows. Some of the best memories were meeting and having beers with the guys from Kreator, Death, Sacred Riech, Obituary, Coroner, Death Angel, Carcass, Nashville P^$$y, Devastation, Cannibal Corpse, Devil Driver, Morbid Angel, Pestilence, Napalm Death, Lords of Acid, Sepultura, Terrorizer and several others which I can't remember right now. The ones I wish I could see live and meet before I die or they disban are Venom, especially the original line up.

  • Rush - Amazing
  • Boston & Styx - Styx was ok, Boston was awesome
  • Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick - Journey & Heart were amazing, Cheap Trick sucked ass
  • Metallica/Down/The Sword - Metallica was amazing, The Sword were good, and Down sucked
  • Mayhem Fest '09 - Slayer, Behemoth & The Black Dahlia Murder were amazing, All That Remains & Killswitch Engage were great, Job for a Cowboy & Marilyn Manson were ok, the rest I didn't care for
  • The Roots, if you count Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, they played A LOT more than the show lets on
  • Lamb of God, Job for a Cowboy & GWAR coming up on 11/7
  • Megadeth coming up on 12/6

So I guess I have a pretty good streak with concerts

And I'm dying to see Rage Against the Machine, Street Sweeper Social Club, Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains
