Default Sylvester Stallone Plans to Follow Rambo 5 With Rocky 7 in 2010

Link

Quote:
After Sylvester Stallone wraps his fifth Rambo, apparently a curious creature feature and now officially given the go ahead to start shooting in the spring, it looks like Stallone is looking to once again revive his other iconic turn/cash cow. It seemed like a minor miracle to me that Rocky 6 was so well received and so going for a seventh roll of the dice seems at first like a gamble too far, but Stallone’s feeling quite philosophical:

Quote:
When I was 21 years old and at drama school. My teacher said to me, ‘If you ever put your head out there, thousands of people will try to cut it off, but that’s exactly what you need to do as an artist.’ “I know it’s ludicrous and everyone would laugh. I would laugh about it. But I also know that I’d be successful if I can make this a film about becoming older, not about boxing but about myself.
Do you know what, I think he’s right, actually. Rock on Rocky 7.

He was reportedly speaking to Tele 5 in Germany, since which quotes have spread like wild fire across the web. I sourced my quotes from Teen Say.

Here’s just a touch more of what he said:
Quote:
Even my wife says, ‘Don’t do it. You’re embarrassing the kids’. But I told her, ‘If I don’t try I’ll be a really unhappy man.’ You have to do it. Artists like me have to go through the dark over and over again.
Perhaps a leap into the true darkness of a non-franchise film would be good. Actually, that could include The Expendables, which still seems to be set pretty safely in Stallone’s 80s-brewed comfort zone, so maybe dabbling in a new genre would be necessary. Okay, basically, I’m wanting Stallone to do his long promised Edgar Allan Poe film. Am I alone in that?

Aw come on man! I love 5 of the 6 Rocky films (I 'like' V), but it should have ended with Rocky Balboa. It was a great conclusion to the series and the whole thing was about "getting everything out of the basement" and being done with it. And now he wants to ruin that and make a seventh.... -sigh-

I hope this doesn't happen/isn't true....

Would any of you actually be interested in a part 7?

No....absolutely not......Stallone was a genius for going back and successfully releasing "Rocky Balboa". He will be lambasted if he tries to go for 7.

He will eventually have to end Rambo also.

If he tries it, I wish him luck in producing a great film that I will see, but I think 6 was a great ending.

Actors and companies that keep producing a product that is long past dead should be banned from ever making movies again, they always turn out horrible and never amount to anything

Rocky Balboa was a great ending for the series and definitely made a lot of fans forgive him for Rocky V. This would be as pointless as Rambo battling a werewolf creature or whatever the f is coming up in Rambo V.

Rocky Balboa concluded the story pretty well; he wanted to see if he could go the distance and he did. Now he wants to see if he can go the distance... again ... I'll see it and probably enjoy it. It is just Rambo (or Bourne), great ending IMO but more is fine by me

I posted this on another board and it's been pointed out that these are comments he made in regards to Rocky 6, and they were taken out of context.

Stallone and his people have already debunked it apparantly.

regarding that particular statement I think Sylvester Stallone should go for ending Rocky. Rocky Balboa's story is a great one by all means. It meets this whole human survival of the fittest theory, and the great gatsby (the american dream). If Stallone goes for another rocky then I would think it would be cool that the story should be brought to an end. I.E. Rocky's dramatic death. I think this will have a good impact on the audience. However, with Rambo the character seems more of an invincible target. What do you guys think?

Rocky had an appropriate ending. There's nothing more for him to do.

Rocky Balboa was the perfect and logical end for the franchise. Let it go, Sly.

Rambo, eh, I could see him doing another one without much fuss.

Forget about Rambo. Forget about Rocky.

Where's the sequel to Oscar?

Thank GOD you posted this, tho' it seems people read over it in the posts above it (??) - Hopefully it is a Valid & True statement that he was talking about Rocky 6 ("Rocky Balboa") which seems to make sense - for a change!

It might but not with the same actors. If the movie make's tons of money (and there is a very good chance it will) all of these actord will want a lot of money to return. You might have The Expandables 2 but probably with a very different cast

No no no no no, i'm a huge Stallone fan and cannot imagine another Rocky film, Rocky Balboa tied everything up perfectly. The only way he can go with this is god forbid the death of Rocky.
Stop or my mom will shoot 2 instead please!

I meant Rocky 6 was a good ending and he'll eventually have to make a good ending for Rambo also....I didn't mean kill the characters off.

I would like to see him return for Judge Dredd 2 though.

How much older can Rocky get LOL? Rematch where he beats the guy from 6? I think the ending got the message of getting older out clearly. Now Rambo the creature feature? I'm excited to see that, it's going to be so ridiculous it's going to be awesome. Maybe once Arnold's term ends they can do a movie together. I mean I didn't mind Arnold in T3 and if he just starts working out again and Stallone has a weird face now but he's in pretty good shape for someone his age so it would be a movie to watch.
