Default Sony Announces Blu-Ray Player Combo - Plays Betamax Tapes

I thought this was hilarious, lol

Quote:
Electronics giant Sony announced today that it will soon be selling a combination Blu-Ray and Betamax player. Now that Blu-Ray has won the high definition DVD format war, Sony is hoping to restore some credibility to Betamax while giving something back to the faithful who still have videos on Beta.

Toshiba, which lost the hi-def format war, is reportedly struggling to find a new purpose for itself. Other electronics players are also trying to establish themselves on the new playing field. Samsung seems to be working well in the new Blu-Ray world.

For its part, Sony seems very excited about the new device. "We keep hearing from three or four people in the midwestern United States about how they love their Betamax," noted Sony Chairman Ken Akebono. We figure there must be at least a hundred or so more out there like them, so we should be able to sell dozens of the new machine.

Akebono also responded to questions about when Sony would offer a combination Blu-Ray VHS player: "We don't see a market for that, and besides, we don't control VHS. It's an old technology anyway, and very few people use it any more. If there was any demand, Samsung would already be selling it, wouldn't they?"

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.

This player is inadequate. It won't play my 8-tracks. I'll have to wait for the next model when they correct this major defect in their product design.

Dude, you need to get with the 21st century and adopt to the cassette format. 8-tracks are practically dead.

Classic! It was nice that they included HD-DVD. I wish they could add a DAT player on there as well.

Laserdisc is on there. Look under the Pioneer logo. Middle of the player on left of the player.

What? No advanced multichannel audio decoding? I guess I'll settle for listening to the DTS core on my Betamax copy of Tron.
