What happened to Tower.com? - Blu-ray Forum

Used to see the Tower thread bumped every few days, but I haven't seen it consistently make an appearance in Hot Deals for months...have they stopped trying to compete with Amazon? Does anyone here still buy from them?

I check their Blu-Ray Deal Of The Week and I have purchased about 7 or 8 times just on that deal, and I still do a price comparison there when I'm about to buy something from Amazon or Best Buy...But they can't compete when Columbia House does a BOGO or Deep Discount does one of their Megasales

Their cd pricing is still very competitive with other retailers, but it appears the days of them drastically undercutting Amazon are over. The service and slow shipping was barely tolerable when the prices were great. Now that the pricing is mediocre, I do not even bother checking them anymore.

Has anyone had any problems with Tower, like never getting an e-mail from them, can't contact them, or a week later and still haven't got your item shipped? Is there a phone # you can contact them at? I try to e-mail them and they don't reply.

I haven't ordered from them in a long time. And the last time I did, it was because they had a DVD set in stock that I wanted and was out of print, and for a reasonable price. Otherwise, I would have gotten it elsewhere.

I will say that generally speaking, the times that I ordered from them, I did ultimately get my merchandise with no real problem. But their communication sucks and knowing what was happening with the order between placing it and receiving it let me with a few question marks floating over my head...

There were times where I would order 3 or 4 items in a single order, get a separate shipping confirmation email for each, but they would all come in one package.

Then another time, I got separate shipping confirmation emails, and the order came in more than 1 package, but some items were combined together.

And I actually think that one time I got a single shipping confirmation email, but then had items come in separate packages.

Shipping times varied greatly, with little-to-no explanation as to why.

Not to mention the whole fiasco with the Iron Man Blu-Ray release.

Honestly, at this point, for me to order from them again, they'd either have to have some SUPER SUPER great prices (I'm talking like 50% or more off whatever the price is at Amazon), or have an item that I'm deperately looking for that I can't find anywhere else.

I'd rather pay a buck or two more for an item from another website where I have some clue about what is going on with the order.

And since their prices aren't as competitive lately, I wouldn't even be saving the buck or two by shopping with them anyway.
