So I'm planning to have some electrical work done in my new house. Mainly throughout the living room. In addition to some new electrical plugs, I'm also going to have speaker wire ran through the wall or under the floor for 6 surround speakers. (the second rear speaker just wont fit).
I'm buying all the wall plates/connectors/cables from monoprice, I've always liked their stuff. The problem: Slanted walls. The living area is an A-Frame with steep walls. There is no way to mount the wall plates to the wall. I need a solution. The current plugs are just kind of flopped onto the floor. I'm looking for some nice looking boxes I can secure to the floor and connect the cables ran through the floor to. Something almost like a surge protector look, but maybe square for electrical plugs, and then something for the speaker wire plates to mount. Any ideas? Almost like the link below. http://www.kreativepower.com/ |

I would ask your electrician if it may be possible to pull those wires into a box similar to this:http://www.levitonproducts.com/catal..._25249-FBA.htm
It would be mounted flush in the floor. Then you could plug in a surge protected strip into that. If there is access underneath where those outlets appear, then it should be no problem. Your electrician may also have access to other styles via his distributor. Ask him what he thinks. |

Like I said. Ask your electrician. He may be able to find you something cheaper. Or if your looking to save money, you could always do it yourself. Here is a great do it yourself option. I have used these before and they are great. http://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Betts-E.../dp/B000S78HXW

I'm confused as to why they can't be mounted? What reason can you not using a remodel box?
http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-...atalogId=10053 Just cut a hole in the wall the size of the box, slip it in, tighten down the tabs and you're set. |
