Get dedicated Blu-ray software you have to pay for, like WinDVD 9. OEM BD playback software is unreliable at best.

It's Blu-ray discs btw.

Try downloading a trial of Arcsoft Total Media Theater and see if your BDs run with that.

nope, nothing works,i checked the blu-ray Rom with Nero and it's ok,it reads all types of blu-ray and it's not broken,so it's driver problem or firmware...BUT THERE IS NO FIRMWARES OR DRIVERS IN THE WEB.

Default !!!!!!the Solution!!!!!!!

Go to acer arcade deluxe
select "Play Movie"
Select "settings"
select "BD settings"
Select "region code"
Select "region B" for the UK

Important Note!:
You can only change your region !!! 5 !!!! times!
that is 5 times!
I am totally stressing this.....5 times!

You may have to do this a second time so your computer locks on to this region code.
If you watch an american blu-ray vid, on the fifth change of the region code your computer locks to this region !FOREVER!

SO I AM TOLD.

Enjoy your movie and comment on your success!

Hey there.

I have the same problem with my Aspire 6920g and I also use Acer Arcade Deluxe. Also the sampler works, but not a normal Blu-Ray Disc. I already switched the region code in my BD-drive-settings to B (or 2, it is a Blu-Ray Disc bought in Germany). But there is no such thing as BD-settings in my Acer Arcade Deluxe menu. Not at all. And all other test versions of programs like PowerDVD 8, WinDVD 9 or Nero ShowTime do not work, either. Same error occurs.
I'm thankful for any help. Don't wanna waste any more money for expensive software since the laptop was sold to be able to play Blu-Rays without any problems. Thanks in advance for your comments.

In fact the solution for Acer Arcade Deluxe is a bit wrong. Below the "Play movie" icon is a computer+ laptop icon. Click on it to bring it in the center, and left below you will see some cubes. That's "Settings".

Region coding on Blu-ray Discs is handled by the software player and not the drive itself.
Open the player software settings and see what it is set to.

You also might want to consider getting a full version player from Cyberlink(PowerDVD 9 Ultra) or ArcSoft(TotalMedia Theatre 3).

YES IV'E DONE IT!!! Dont listen to that idiot Foxhound45 ill tell you the proper way. First open acer arcade deluxe, use the cinedash and scroll to Advanced and it will say settings under it, in there you will find some options go to BD its the last one, then change your region to B or A or wherever you live. HOPE THIS WORKS!!!!!!

I don't think this is a driver or firmware issue. If you are running Windows XP then it's perfectly normal for it not to display whether or not there is a disc in the drive. XP does not support the file system used on Blu-ray discs, so the operating system can't see any the files on the disc. Your Blu-ray playback software should work fine regardless though, BD-compatible media players typically contain their own file system driver built in.
