I didn't see this anywhere on the forum. I'm sure I will be chastised if it is already here.
"The US Justice Department is investigating possible violations of antitrust law in the optical disc drive industry. Optical disc drives read or write data on media such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Sony Corp said that its US optical disc drive operations were under investigation for possible violations of antitrust regulations. Hitachi and Toshiba are also being investigated and have acknowledged receiving subpoenas. Sony Optiarc America, which supplies a lineup of optical disc drives, has received a Justice Department subpoena. Company spokesman Chisato Kitsukawa said the company is “fully cooperating with US authorities” and did not comment other details about the case. Japan's Hitachi Ltd and Toshiba Corp also said that their optical disc drive operations with South Korean partners were being investigated. Hitachi said its joint venture with LG Electronics, Hitachi-LG Data Storage, had received a Justice Department subpoena and that the unit was also under investigation by European Union and Singapore regulators." |

What does this really have to do with... anything?
Sony, Toshiba, LG, Hitachi, are mentioned, and that's likely not all of them... Point being...? The only thing that this will result in is a fine {if that} but seeing as how Blu-Ray was mentioned, I don't see it going very far at all if they're mentioning Toshiba in the same breath. Logan |

It's all a bit late now no?
DoJ need to investigate MS funding loss making businesses with monies gained through monopolies and force them to be broken up into separate companies. |

Pay a fine and move on. Where there is money to be made, Uncle Sam will cut some slack. What can they do? Stop hard media? Yeah, let's see them explain to their own kids why they had to stop hard media and now they can't own movies any more.
