Default Denon goes Blu-ray!?!

Quote:
I do have insider knowledge here and it will NOT be a dual player and will NOT be HD-DVD. It will be in the form factor of the DVD-3930 and is expected to have HDMI 1.3a, profile 1.1 compliant, etc. Expect a cost around the price of the 3930 now.

Nothing is concrete since the announcement won't be until just before CEDIA. But I assure you it is BR 100%.

Denon will most likely use the SO Realta chip in it. The same one in the present high end players. I would guess 1500.00, as they will keep it in line with the 3930 price. - jnelson2000

It seems an insider on AVS has confirmed that the player won't be Universal, but Blu-ray only.

Realta chip sounds great. Finally a TRUE high end player.

I hope this is true. It definitely seems more likely than an HD-DVD player. Especially, when you consider Onkyo has already backed off making an HD-DVD player after they indicated that they would earlier in the year. The writing is definitely on the wall and the CE manufacturers know it.

Realta chip is a teraflop (trillion instructions p/sec) video processing and scaling engine developed by Silicon Optix.

Can poster please provide link to AVS thread. I'm a big Denon fan and would to track this. Thanks.

Second of all: Which insider on AVS said this? Link and post number would be greatly appreciated.

Just remember you heard it here first. Of course, this is only an educated guess (read between the lines) :-)

I think you mean something to the effect of "they aren't making a new design"

I'd love to see them add some extra features for audio and video support.

Denon is good news...I want to see how their product performs. Something tells me were in for some treats this Xmas regarding HD gear.

Well according to this article, it doesn't sound like Onkyo has made a firm decision as to whether or not they will actually follow through with it.

Although this certainly isn't the first retraction we've seen in regard to HD DVD support, it sounds like Onkyo could indeed be rethinking its decision to crank out a standalone player for the format this year. While the company seemed passably gung-ho about supporting HD DVD at this year's CES, a recent press conference at the outfit's headquarters injected some serious doubt. Reportedly, Keith Haas, director of sales, was quoted as saying that the company is currently "looking at both formats," and also added that it was trying to decide "whether to field either a standalone player or a multiple-format model.
Doesn't exactly sound like a vote of confidence for HD-DVD. I'll believe it when I see it on domestic store shelves.

Sweeeettt!! He should be proud to have these designs in his portfolio. And Denon should be very happy with the design. These pictures are starting to give me financially irresponsible thoughts.

OK, I'm off to Google this to see if any of it is showing up yet.

I can't help but think how good these speakers would look alongside my our beloved PS3.
