Default DVR trickery

I have been noticing that they are starting to put little short clips in the middle of commercial breaks now, my gf and I were talking about why and I suggested it was done to try and get people to stop fast forwarding the commercials because they think the show is back on and will maybe forget to forward again or just get fed up with all the stop and go and not forward the second time.
She think I'm a conspiracy nut or something but it makes sense, DVR/tivo is taking off and people are sick of watching commercials, only makes sense that they employ some kind of trickery to get us to watch the ads.
As an aside, I do make sure to watch every Modern Warfare 2 trailer on tv, looks f-ing sweet. I feel like a kid again getting this excited for a video game.

What shows are you talking about? I haven't seen that on any of the shows I watch on the big networks. The only time I've seen this is on Pardon the Interruption on ESPN, and it's just like a 5 second snippet of "oops we left the mics and cameras on".

I've seen this on The Ultimate Fighter. I think it's a ploy not only to get people to stop fast-forwarding their DVR, but also to dissuade channel flippers.

I know what the OP is referring to. I've seen it on a couple different channels, but I mainly notice it on BRAVO.

Ultimate Fighter is when I first noticed it. Seen it on a few channels and shows since then.

Ad agencies strike back.

I have seen this on CBS a lot, a preview right in the middle of the commercial breaks...

I've never noticed this.
Now because of your avatar everything you type is always read in the Cleveland Jr. voice.

They do it on Top Chef alll the time! Really screws up my fast-forwarding mojo

30 second skip for the win. You don't get fooled by such things.
