So I'm an EXTREMELY happy "Prime" member with Amazon.
However something has begun to occur that I don't really like, but I'm not sure there's anything that can be done. And this situation is most definitely just relating to me. I live in a secure building. The door leading into the apt. building is locked and you need some special key to get in. They only give access to the usual lot, mailman, rescue/police that type of thing. Well I FINALLY convinced them to let the UPS guy get a key, and that's working great. There's no intercoms, so if they can't get in, then they just leave a sticker on the door and often I won't even know about it until it's too late to go pick up the item. NOW though it seems that many of my items are being shipped via Fed EX who not only don't have a key, but the driver is a complete moron and doesn't realize that my apt. is part of a church and the church people are there during the day providing meals and whatnot to the homeless. Is there anyway I can contact Amazon and somehow make it where my items are ALWAYS shipped via UPS unless ABSOLUTELY necessary? 9 times out of 10 it seems it's UPS. But every now and then (and today/tomorrow it's 3 packages via FED EX and 1 package via UPS) it's Fed Ex. Every once in a blue moon it's DHL. There's no option for how to have it shipped (that I'm aware of) and would prefer to have UPS deliver it since he has the key. Don't suppose there's anything I can do about that, is there? |

Hmm... I've never had anything and I've ordered since june probably ordered at least 100-200 items delivered via fedX, I have had twice had things delivered via local currier, but thats it.... I've always had great help with their customer service so my advice try them there.

Usually it's UPS, but sometimes FedEx. I can't predict when it will come FedEx, but I suspect it depends on pickup times at the warehouse, which warehouse, and when your package was ready to ship with respect to how long the transit time will be. I empathize; I really do. As soon as the snow flies here, USPS, UPS and FedEx will often decide not to come down our private road because it can be difficult to get out.

Frustrating to say the least. lol. In the grand scheme of things, it's not THAT big a deal. I just get frustrated when a friend shows up "dude...this sticker was on the door" and I'm like "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" ha ha ha |

a couple suggestions for you
1) tell\ask\request that the other people in the appartment either leave the note if not for them or put it on your internal door. 2) as someone said earlier, contact amazon and see if they can put a notation on your account to always ship via ups. maybe tell them you'd rather get it a day later via ups than a day earlier via fed ex or dhl 3) when you order do they have a special instructions box that you can specify what the deliveryman should do if no one answers? ie bring to church next door (of course make sure the church people will accept the package for you first) 4) if you can talk to the fed ex\dhl guy (there is usually a regular guy that would have your stop in his route) and let them know the special instructions. This may be able to be done through their customer service, similar to a signature waiver good luck -Agrare |

Change your address on Amazon and use "Address 2" to reflect some sort of delivery instruction.
For example, I lived in a 3-story building in New England for a while. The bottom floor was a business, and UPS/FedEx constantly left my packages there. It was closed by the time I got home from work, so I'd have to go down on my off days and get my deliveries. Then I started including "3rd Flr/Back Door Entry" as the Address 2 line whenever I ordered stuff. Finally clued delivery guys in to the fact that the 2nd and 3rd floor apartments had their doors in the back of the building. Just my $0.02. Best of luck. |

I got an email a couple weeks ago that Amazon is now making free Saturday deliveries for people with Prime. I haven't received a Saturday delivery yet so I don't know if they're using UPS or how it works.

Generally UPS, with the rare occasion of FedEx.

Okay that's news to me. There were a few times when my orders' delivery dates fell on a Saturday (ordered on a Thursday) but they delivered all of them the day before...probably because anything shipped out of their Nevada facility is overnight for the SF Bay Area. I'll order a blu on a Friday next time and see if they actually deliver on a Saturday.
