Default Sony's Picture Calibration

I bought Wildthings and it has a new brochere in it with a Picture Calibration Easter Egg. I thought I would share it.

Available on all SPHE blu-ray discs

Main Menu press 7669

Works with PS3 too.

All Sony discs have this. I guess they are just letting people know about it now.

Can you use the remote for this or do you have to use the controller?

I tried using it with the Patriot, but am unsure how to use it. It's just a series of images that stay for a few seconds and then change.

I paid a professional a lot of money to calibrate my system, not just the screen, but the 7.1 surround sound system too, and it was worth it. As a professional Digital Imaging Technician for a world famous company (I know everyone here has heard of the National Geographic Society before), I want the best screen and best image I can get!
It was worth the money to have him calibrate it since he has a highly accurate calibration system that can out perform any and all of those little calibration things on DVDs and such.
I assume that what you are talking about is a simple way to let you calibrate your monitor right?

Thanks for the info on this. Does anyone know of other easter eggs out there on blu-ray?

I got dizzy looking at the test patterns, that was a wild fun ride...

Actually that is where I signed up for it. The guy was a real professional too. He knew everything about the setup, since we both talk technical digital image jargon i could tell he knew what he was talking about. He was even certified by a professional group (I forget the name) who specialize in optimizing image quality for home theater setups.
Only problem was that Best Buy sold me a discontinued Yaamaha HTR 60-90, which had no remote, so they ordered one, and gave me the wrong one. I didn't notice so when the guy was trying to calibrate the speakers, he couldn't access the menus! ARG! SO I BOUGHT one straight from Yamaha for the right system. Finally we can come back out and finish the job (at no extra charge since it was part of the deal).

Ok, first you have to be on the main menu, (NOT the pop up menu) of the Sony Blu-ray to access it. Then you press the Green Triangle button that shows you all the icons including numbers. You then press on the 7669 numbers icons rather quickly (could happen that the first time you try it you might not get it fast enough) pressing X (enter), then you're taken to a standard color bars, and a resolution/overscan black on white backckground pattern, and couple other patterns.

Unfortunately I can't say that I have worked on that project, but thanks anyways. I have done some things for the channel side, but I hope someday to do more for them. Till then I am mostly working on the photography side.
