Italy Nosferatu (F.W. Murnau)

http://www.amazon.it/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004XKRNX0/dv09f-21/ref=nosim

Listed as releasing 28 June 2011. Courtesy of Ermitage Cinema.

If this is accurate, it is a very welcome surprise.

Would it be asking too much if this were region free?

If someone organizes a group buy, I'll be down for getting a copy.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for this release. The last restoration was carried out in SD so unless Ermitage Cinema has carried out their own I'd say this is an upscale.

Figures. I know it's been confirmed by those in the know at Masters of Cinema that the last Nosferatu restoration was done only in standard resolution, but given that the Kino DVD looked more detailed (not artificially sharpened) than the MOC edition and was advertised as being from an HD master http://www.kino.com/video/item.php?film_id=887 ...well, I was hoping that maybe the restoration was done in HD and that somehow MoC only received a soft, badly down-converted standard video master from Murnau-Stiftung and thus assumed it was only done in SD. Long shot I know, but anyway...shame about the blu-ray being delayed.

Can I ask you for the source, since i've found nothing about release date on their webage and Amazon as well

Any word about restoration process (some details, etc),though?

This is great news. It has the potential to be one of the biggest news of the year,if the movie itself is properly restored

We currently have a US release planned for Nosferatu. We're still working on getting our print transferred over.
