The Harman Kardon AVR 1600

Is this a good receiver? its the The Harman Kardon AVR 1600. I got a chance to get this at a good price?

The HK AVR1600, AVR2600 & AVR3600 seem to have similar problems like their predecessors( HK AVR154, AVR254 & AVR354 ). Some AVS members have returned theirs. No professional reviews out yet. Not selling too well, hence the quick price drops( 2 months after release ).

Its a good entry level receiver. I was considering it myself as well, but didn't get it because it has only 30W per channel and no pre-outs for an external amp. Plus I got a really good deal on the AVR 254.

But you'll definitely like the clean power and sound from an HK.

Anybody know were you can get this fix under warranty if i have to in the central new york area. getting it online so wouldnt be able to get it from the vender.

You should be able to update the firmware yourself too. I believe this one has a USB port, which is much better than the RS-232 in case of my AVR-254

I'm surprised though they still have problems. I thought they were fixed after the recent firmware upgrade. Mine is dated July 2009, and haven't had any problems (knock on wood )
