i bought the 4yr extended warranty from best buy. I went to geeksquad website to read the terms and conditions of the tv warranty. It says I have to have 3 stuck pixels in a 1/2 square inch or 5 total stuck pixels on the whole display to be fixed. What the heck is that about...

Hmmm... I would go to the store and talk to somebody. Face to face usually gets me better results in my case.

That is standard for the Best Buy warranty. Wish I could explain why it is, but it just is. I'm sure it has something to do with P&L, but it's the consumer who gets the shaft looking at that annoying pixel. How long have you had the TV?

Its not even THAT bad. If you read your Sony owners manual, their stipulations are that 2% of the picture has to be with faulty pixels before they do anything about it...that's over 41,000 pixels. I have a 52xbr4 and I read that manual front to back, baby.

It's a stuck pixel. Company stance on the number of dead or stuck pixels which constitute a faulty panel differs from company to company. I believe Samsung have a zero defect policy but Sony's isn't as good.

With it being stuck compared to dead I believe there are solutions to try to get rid of it ranging from rapidly exciting the pixel to turn on and off, ie with an image of static from an analogue source, to gently massaging the pixel through the screen (although I can't see this latter one working TBH).

Try doing a google search for fixing a stuck pixel.
