This was cheap at Amazon UK, so I blind bought it. Very stylishly shot, but the story is pretty dull. Luckily the young girl in peril is beautiful, so it never gets too boring. The transfer looked awfully dark. No detail in shadows at all. Sound was good, some great goofy 70s music. It was cheap. I'm not complaining.

Watched this earlier and really liked it. It kinda feels like a hybrid between a giallo and a Poe-esque gothic horror, which can only be a good thing. I appreciated the strange little touches, like the supposed pet orangutan, and that cat which just wanders from set piece to set piece giving everyone the evil eye.

It was also fun seeing Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg on screen together. I turned to my other half and I was like, 'Yo, this is the couple responsible for that 'Je t'aime...' song.' She said, 'What the **** are they doing in this!?'

Is this a scanner noise riddled presentation? Cannot find any reviews with screencaps.

No, it isn't. It comes from a 2k scan of the original negative and was scanned by L'Immagine Ritrovata. However, for some bizarre reason, 88 removed the grain on this.

Compared to the old DVD, this transfer is far too dark. Very hard to tell what is going on in some scenes.

So there are two listings for his title on here, is it just the slipcover that is different?

Also, one listing says it’s region free, the other hasn’t confirmed anything yet. Someone in another group said that their copy wouldn’t play on a Region A player, so is it possible they locked it after the fact, or is it the other way around?
