Default Interconnects

I just connected my Technics SU-7300 amplifier to my SDA's along with my 805. The difference is . I first connected the amplifier with the first stereo RCA cable I had lying around. After flipping through some radio stations, I was thoroughly impressed. I decided I was going to turn off my receiver so I could move some things around. Once I did that, I noticed there was a very loud humming sound. I knew it had to be from the cable. So, I went to disconnect my PS1's interconnect, the Premium Monoprice RCA cable. Once connecting the cable, the humming and noise was completely gone. Also, I noticed everything sounded clearer and the sound quality was improved. On top of that, voices were locked on in the middle and were clearer.

Since I will be moving the amplifier up next to the receiver, I will not need a long cable ~ 1-2' distance. So, I figure since I'm going to be changing my system like this and will only require a short connection, I might as well go ahead and get a nice interconnect from the Onkyo to the Technics. Any suggestions? I was thinking a 2' Blue Jeans cable but am open to other suggestions.

Works for me.

Personally when I compared with BJC to Emotiva cables, I preferred the Emotiva cables. I kept the BJC cables, but don't have any place for their use right now. I was going to play with them on my Oppo, but I am missing the .1 cable.

Tough to say. I went for the X-Series cables. Not sure the differences between the U- and X-Series cables performance wise.

I would say that you cannot go wrong with either of them. I think they are both great build. I just personally liked the sound of one over the other.

I guess you could get them both and return the ones you did not care for.

Here is a comparison for you.

I didn't notice for a pair of interconnects on the X-series cables, you had to put in two for the quantity. Thanks Lou!

They should be fine. They are basically the same cables as the single Digital Coax cables, except these are bundled together in a 5-pack.

I have all BJC interconnects right now, waiting for my amp to come in. I purchased them WAY before Emo even came out with cables. You'd say there's a noticeable difference, Lou?

Be honest now. lol. Tell me, "No, JJ, not really. Spend your money elsewhere, like wine, women, and song."

Honestly, I felt I heard a difference. I felt the BJC cables sounded a little bit restricted. The Emotiva cables seemed to be a little more fuller with a better high end. I felt a nice compliment to the B&W sound, which is a little forward to begin with.

I know. I know.

I had to pull the B&W sound card, didn't I.

I've been using Audioquest Copperhead IC's and they were a vast improvement over the el cheapo RCA's one finds anywhere and everywhere. Don't know how they compare to the BJC cables, but may be worth a look.

I got my interconnects in!

Before trying the cables, I listened to a song I had on my PS3 with some harsh instruments and lots of treble so I could get an idea of how that song sounded before. After installing the new cables, I played the song immediately after getting them connected. I quickly noticed the harsh instruments were not nearly as harsh and more defined (I could actually hear what instruments they were). Also what struck me was how much more locked on the singer was in the song and how natural it sounded. After playing some more music, I found out that this was true for everything else. Pianos sound fantastic now. I can pinpoint and nearly watch where the keys are being played on the piano. It is pretty cool. The Dark Side of the Moon SACD blows my mind now. In the sweet spot, you are completely enveloped. Drums have crazy presence. It actually gave me the chills on Time. I will likely be doing some movie watching this weekend. I haven't actually watched any movies since I added the amp. Also, as another note, the cables were shipped very quickly to me and are incredibly flexible and well built. I also like the fact that they give you a little baggie of color rubber bands to mark the different channels for the cables.

That's great King, you have peaked my interest in these now.

Could I get the X-Series Component/Video Cable instead of the RCA's? Not sure what the difference is.

I'm sure you could, but getting two of the regular RCA cables would cost less than the component video cables.

I would need 5 of them for my amp. Not sure which route to take.

Oh, then getting the component cables and two RCA's would be your best choice.

Thanks King, so there would be no conflict or quality down grade going that route?
