Yes!!!! No Star Trek love!!! Happy dance....

Interesting on The Blind side....a film that I think has done almost as well as Avatar with a 29 Million price tag and 237 million domestic and has not even been released overseas. Could this be the darkhorse?

Personaly and to be fair, if Avatar can be nominated so can Star Trek, sorry but at this point it make's no difference. Neither one have such great stories but at least Star Trek had actors who actualy did a good job at their roles, which is not even there in Avatar. I know everyone will jump on me but we all know why Avatar is there and there is about 2 billion green reasons for it

I'd like Avatar to win, but The Hurt Locker is the CLEAR favorite for both Best Director and Best Pic.

Best Director yes but I don't think the Academy will ignore a movie that is making over 2 BILLION dollars. They will have to award it for that alone.

Uh, no they won't. If the Academy gave best pic to the highest grossing film each year then barely any of the winners would be what they are now.

Like I said, I'd love for Avatar to win, but it's just not in the tea leaves with the way THL has been sweeping all the important awards shows.

As long as Avatar loses and Christoph Waltz wins, i'll be happy. I'm very "meh" about these nominees overall.
Weird that "Serious Man" is nominated since very few people even saw it. Very good movie though.
Hopefully Fantastic Mr. Fox gets nominated for something.

Yes, I think it will also. I believe one of the big reasons is because the academy knows that there is a big disconnect between their recent choices and the taste of the typical movie goer, which is probably the reason that the Oscar ratings have been in the mud the past few years. By having Avatar win, it will demonstrate that the rich Hollywood celebrities are in touch with the working people - who go to movies to see rich Hollywood celebrities act like working people.

Since Cameron already won for Titanic and lots of Academy voters despise his success and his ego they will probably give it to Bigelow

Actually the most telling sign that The Hurt Locker will win Best Pic and Best Director is that it won both the PGA (producer's guild award) and the DGA (director's guild award). Both of these awards are extremely accurate predictors of the Oscars. The winner of the DGA has won the Best Director oscar 58 times out of 60 and the Best Pic oscar 54 times out of 60.

Face it folks, both of these awards are The Hurt Locker's to lose.
