I guess there is NO XBR 10, correct?. Why is Sony so secretive?
Lordy, they never stop creating new stuff, do they?
Totally Amazing Company.

mmunro:

Just curious . . .I perused your collection of 33.
How come no LIVE CONCERTS of anyone?

Movies get old . . .(even The Shining . . lol)
but concerts lift the spirits to another level, especially when you KNOW what's coming next . . . . . . .

i'm still waiting till WALL-E goes to $4.99.........................in the cut-out bin . .

I actually have Incubus live at the red rocks, forgot to add it to my collection. The X5500 is a european model which should translate to the XBR10 or XBR11 in the US. The price (MSRP not Street) of the 40inch is apparently $2840, im sure thats not 100% yet tho

The numerology is simple, I guess.

Take the 5500
and
double it , , , , ergo 10

Europeans are so lucky, aren't they?
Why them and not the Yankees first . . . .

They know more than us? You from here? or there?

I think I'm flying to Berlin for the SHOW. (nahhhhhhhhhhhh)
i'll keep my shoes on........

Those are just Euro model numbers. You wont see those here in the states. Notice the odd refresh rates?

Thumbs up

I thought they were gonna drop the triluminous LED and it seems i was right. It was such a revolutionary idea, that was ahead of its time, and thats why the price was so high. I think with this new model they can definetly cut into Samsungs LED sales. Even more if they can make it thin.

hmm I would rather sacrifice thinness for much better picture quality, i dont understand the fascination with thinness on the TV's. As long as its not 250 pound beast I dont care

thinness is nothing more than this year's marketing gimmick.

Much like the 720p/1080p or the 120hz/240hz B.S. or I got more
HDMI's than you . . . . . . . . . . . .

OLED , first in 26" . . . than larger . . . (NOV)

1080p is out . . . . IN will be 1440p (?) 720p X 2 (?)

Bluray discs we all bought lovingly will be obsolete. (BD-1440p)
The Next New.All to be displayed on OLED's

Players will upconvert 1080p to 1440?

(correct me on the resolution p if I'm off)

I'm not saying i like a thinner panel or that its a better technology but the ill informed consumer will buy thinner just about every time. I used to work at Circuit City and i would sell the Samsung 850 more than the 750 even though the 750 had less flashlighting issues had a cooler panel and perfectly identical features for a cheaper price but it didn't matter. Samsung keeps making them thinner and selling like crazy. I don't like the trend but if it means sony can jump back to #1 in sales and be able to put more research into a model like the XBR8 its ok by me. Yeah Sony has better products but Samsung makes more "hype" products. Sony needs to put an ad campaign out showing how their LED is different and superior to these new edge lit panels, because the technological difference is huge between them but the marketing does not show this.

LAVALAMP:

in a nutshell, this is what i found out --X series. X5500 series most likely
will be the XBR10.

slimmer
40 46 50 poss 65 (no word yet)
LED BACKLIGHT with local dimming
TV much like other X series TV's
200 HZ, (why?) I don't comprehend that)
BFI
White LED's -not colours . . .to Save $$$$$$$$$$.

this leads me to believe that the 10 is a try out .. feel the market(and reviews...)
probably, therefore the - - - XBR 11 is the target for me.

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...&id=1248270660 (mmunro)

Go to http://www.flatpanelshd.com/ and punch in SONY X5500 to see. This just in: postponed . . .todays news . . .check it out . . . see comment at end of story... add one if you like

It will likely be slightly different by the time we get it. The 100 and 200 hz is caused by the electrical frequency in Europe, their power frequency is 50 hz unlike 60hz in the US. So when their electrical systems in the tvs work it doubles or quadruples the regular frequency. Thats why our elctronics get fried if you try them over their. This model looks promsing if the price is reasonable.
