Default Ps3 games.

I just got a PS3 and I don't know much about video games. I think I like first person shooting game. I really liked Resident Evil 4 on PS2. Does anyone have any good suggestions for me to try out?

The first Resistance game may be a good starting point since it's a budget title.

Resident Evil 5 perhaps?

Of course, Modern Warfare 2 releases tomorrow--which looks to be the bar-setter for first person shooters.

Also, go to the PSN store and download any demo that looks remotely interesting.

I still need to get myself a copy of RE 5, I enjoyed the demo for it a lot.

That's a great idea. I'll be sure to check out some demos tonight.

yeah, really, if you dont follow games a lot, demos are the best way to go, they are free and they give you a good understanding of how the game is going to play and wether or not you would enjoy it, but all the titles listed above are all great games, and the only one that doesnt really fit the shooter genre is little big planet, but thats awesome for a whole other reason and everyone should give that game a try

Exactly one year ago I was in an identical situation. Luckily, my PS3 was bundled with Drake's Fortune. Others you may like are Fallout 3, Dead Space and Bioshock which are all variations on shooters. Something worth considering when you choose is how interested you are in online/multiplayer gaming.

Grand Theft Auto IV is supremely enjoyable, even when you aren't doing the missions you have a great time with the open world.

also, if you like RPG, you can get Oblivion for under $20! its worth a try at least, especially for the mere cost of a movie. i've been playing it for over 2 years now.

Last night I tried to get online with my PS3 but I wasn't able to get it working. It seemed to be having a problem connecting to the wireless router. It detected the router but would not go online. So I wasn't able to get any demos yet. I have to get online ASAP.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is still my favorite shooter of any type, tactical or 'run and gun'

a 40 year old buddy of mine checked it out, hadn't played video games since atari, and is now HOOKED. he loves the strategy. its worth a look! and cheap!

EDIT: MW2 is a very good game, but it doesn't really raise the bar, IMO, from what is already out there.

I'm really not into pushing a lot of button rapidly. If that makes any sense.

The online community is getting kinda sparse, unfortunately. But, I still get back to R6V2 fairly frequently. It's just really fun. And given how much time I've put into it for being a pre-owned purchase to begin with, it's easily the best value purchase game I have for PS3.

If you like FPS/ TPS, then I'd advise to check these out:

- Rainbow Six V2
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (amazing)
- Far Cry 2
- Fear 2
- Killzone 2
- Resident Evil 5 (kindof old mechanics but still very enjoyable I think)
- Dead Space (awesome)
- Bioshock
- Resistance & Resistance 2 (this last one particularly for its online co-op mode, a total blast)

and of course the classics COD:MW, COD:WaW and now COD: MW2

If you are all about the online multiplayer experience then I would add

Socom
Warhawk
and soon: MAG
