Default Wizard of Oz giftset packaging "error"

I've just received this from the States and the cardboard has split in the corner, it looks to me like the wrapping has been put on so tightly that it's pulled the box enough to crack it.
By coincidence i looked on eBay and found someone selling one with the same damaged (still wrapped).
Is this an error in packaging?
Anyone got a damaged box?

I have seen a few in Best Buy on the shelf - still shrink wrapped it the split that you mentioned. Not good. The box needs to be handled gently.

I'm sure that some disreputable pawn shops (redundant?) have shrinkwrap capability.

Oddly enough - and believe me or not - but I sold/trading him that one plus another Oz UCE. He gets me UK releases and I get US releases for him. I got the two UCE's directly from WBshop.com. They were individually boxed and shipped in an outer box, and both arrived in perfect condition. He had a relative visiting the US, so I shipped to her via a Priority Mail large flat rate box, both UCEs well wrapped in bubble wrap, along with one copy of the Target Emerald edition. He emailed me that the both UCEs had slight damage to the corners, while the Emerald condition was perfect. I asked him if they were all still in the Priority Mail box and he said no, his relative removed them to fit in her suitcases better. So I just think those Oz UCEs are very fragile. I didn't keep an Oz UCE for myself, the Walmart single disc was enough for me. But I did get the Gone with the Wind UCE, which arrived in perfect condition, shipped just in a single outer box; the GwtW UCE seems much more sturdy and solid to me. And as I remember, there was some warning printed on the Oz single boxes about keeping them in the box until placed in store display. So, maybe Warner realized ther were some issues with the sturdiness of the Oz UCE boxes.

Just an FYI about storing this item.

If you put it on your bookshelf on it's long edge, only the front and back cardboard pieces come in contact with the shelf. The center box is suspended. After about a week, I noticed that the center box was sagging towards the shelf. The box was starting to come apart along the hinged edge.

Bottom line, store the box flat to avoid ruining it.

If you do, flip it upside-down, but then there may be shelf wear on the spine, the title will be upside down, and the top flap may open...

Keep in mind that the box is a little large, so the contents may also get damaged over time.

This box (and GWTW) are now stored flat. Bit of a pain, but everything stays safe and sound...

Other then this issue, I am loving these UCE. Wish Casablanca came in this size/styled box...

Edit: I HATE your avitar. Just thought you should know. Go Twins!

My only problem with your idea is you can't really see it that great. I may just sell it now lol. Just get the regular bd version. Not sure yet. It's a great box but like you said...it's not meant to be displayed that way.

Twins had their chance...they played like sh&*!

That's exactly what I did with mine but it split instantly...
