Default am I the only one who wants The Witches (1990) on BD ??

i would DIE to get this one. someone told me it was on HBO in HD a few years ago and it looked amazing. i thought they would release it when the new version came out in theaters but now its been in-talks for 4 years so i wonder if it is ever gonna happen. they should just release the 1990 movie already. the dvd pq looks as bad as vhs.

I thought I was the only one! This movie gave me nightmares for months. I think my fear of rats began with this movie. This and sadly enough, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Perry/Swanson) were common occurances in my nightmares

lol it scared the shit out of me for years. i once threw a crazy fit at a babysitter cause she was trying to make us kids watch. i had watched it before and i knew how scary it was lmao. i got so hysteric she had to take me out of the room.
buuut a few years later i was proud to be able to sit through it. and i loved it so much that it became one of my all-time favorites.

You're not the only one...far from it. There is another, larger thread in this wish area too.

I picked up the HD widescreen version of iTunes...that alone is so much better than the pan n scan DVD.

I love this movie... I have it on DVD and played it recently on a Blu-ray player that upscales dvd images to Blu-ray-ish... it looks great. I hope a proper Blu-ray comes out soon.

I wonder why this movie has not been released on blu-ray yet. I loved watching it when I was a kid.

In Mexico. Got it today. PQ is decent. 3 out of 5, definitely not a full blown restoration. Audio is DTS-HD MA 2.0 Stereo, in English and in Spanish. Subtitles can be turned off but default to on. region free, BD-25.

Watched this not too long and it's still a pretty fun adaptation. It was pretty 'scary' when I was a little kid and comes off a bit campy today as an adult. Never did buy it on dvd, so I'd get it on blu.

I would definitely be all for "Witches" in the correct anamorphic format & in HD.

I've seen the film only once, several years back. The DVD was an older P.O.S. VHS rip (or at least that's what it appeared to be), and it was in the crummy pan & scan format.

I thought the film was decent & quite creepy; it was also an unusual Nicolas Roeg choice, since he hadn't been known for directing kid's films.

However, I'm sure my enjoyment of the film was marred by the fact that I saw it in such a terrible format. If it were in a better format, I'm sure I would enjoy it much more.

Already posted in here but what the heck? I'd love to see this on Blu. I saw it in the theater when it came out and a few more times on video, but hadn't seen it at all until renting it from Netflix a few years ago. I was pleased to discover it was just as entertaining as I'd remembered it. The scene where all the witches first reveal themselves is still creepy as heck, and Angelica Houston is just fantastic. Hope this makes it to Blu-ray.

I can definitely see this in the Warner Archive line in the near future... Most likely with a new transfer since the majority of WA releases had new ones made anyway.

But since its already out as a standard BD in a few places like Mexico, it wouldn't surprise me if they just relabeled that release and put it out through normal retail instead.

Default Bootleg

The bluray from mexico/spain is a bootleg from a company called resen, which apparently is spanish slang for bootleg.
