So I wanted to order The Gone With The Wind UCE off of Amazon, but I went into Worst Buy.
They had the like 6 DVD versions of the UCE mixed in to the Blue Ray section. and they showed a peice of 45.99. So, I mistakingly picked it up took it home, opened it and realized it was the DVD version and kicked myself in the head. When I called managment to ask if anything could be done, they informed me that no exchange for Bluray or refund could be made because it was opened. When I expressed my recommendation to the store manager that he keep the DVD UCE away from the blu section he rudely responded that he (without even checking) didn't see any DVDs mixed with blurays and nothing could be done. He was very rude and not apologetic. When I got on the phone with Corporate to have a three way with the store manager, the store put on a different female manager. She determined that I could exchange my opened DVD copy for the one bluray UCE that they have which is 56.99 );. So instead of trying to sell the DVD copy I am gonna go and give them this opened DVD version and exchange it with the 56.99 blu. Last time I ever shop at worst buy. I always shop amazon but every now and then since they opened, I have shooed best buy. But now I will only stick to Target exclusives, Wally world and Amazon. And yeah it was my falt for not reading the fine print, but what frustrates me most is the way I was treated by store management. I am infuriated with Worst Buy. |

Don't say it's your fault. I know of some BD's that don't have that little Blu tab at the top to indicate it's a Blu-ray. If their store associates weren't so dumb, then they wouldn't have mixed the DVD in with the BD section.

hate to break it to you but horrible customer service isnt limited to just best buy which i had a brain dead employee standing around the custer service desk this morning checking her phone and talking with others. i had my pre order pc printout, my credit card and my D.L. on the counter. after a few minutes i kinda loudly asked if anyone was working today
![]() but as i said, this isnt just limited to best buy. there have been plenty of other times and stores i had crappy service. basically the only thing you can do is shop only at places that have good service regardless of price. |

I bought a box set in there a while back, never opened it, but they wouldn't refund or even exchange it because it was like 33 days after I bought it, and their policy is 30 days, I think. I can imagine that for something opened, but for something unopened still in the shrinkwrap? I shop at Fry's and Amazon now.

I'm surprised the first manager gave you such a hard time. A few years back I bought a copy of Spy Game on DVD. I wanted the widescreen version and didn't realize there was a 4:3 full screen version on the shelf in the same section. I realized it (obviously) after I opened it and started to watch it. I took it back and they allowed me to exchange it for the widescreen version, even though it was opened. Like you said about not looking at it more closely, I was at fault for not realizing I bought the wrong version. I didn't expect them to allow me to exchange it, but I figured I'd give it a shot and they didn't give me any grief. In your case, they made it right by allowing you to exchange it so long as you pay the blu-ray price (which you would have paid had you picked up the blu in the first place, right?). I'm not defending the actions of the first store manager, but you did the right thing by calling Corporate, and the store made it right. I'd be more upset if Corporate told you to p*ss off, but the bottom line is they made it right. It's unfortunate that the store has a d*ck of a manager, but I don't think you can paint the whole company with the broad stroke of the brush - especially since they worked with you to make it right.

But it was your fault that you picked up the dvd version. In the end you got what you wanted but you certainly were not entitled to get an exchange. When I went to pick up John Adams the other day the Blu-ray and dvd versions were in the same isle and pretty close to each other and with just the slightest effort I chose the version I wanted, the Blu-ray version. There's customer service for if the store make a mistake but it was in fact your mistake for choosing the wrong edition. The blame lies strictly with you my friend.
I just looked at both editions online and do not understand how you made the mistake. The tip clearly has the blue bar at the top and say's Blu-ray. Maybe instead of blamming others maybe you should take an extra few secconds next time and read. Last edited by Underworld54; 11-18-2009 at 01:59 AM. |

Yeas sorry about the double threads. Frustrations abounded at the time.
Yeah associates need bootcamp. Yeah at least she's letting me exchange it after I opened DVD version but that best buy is out of control in so many ways. Anyway I've hung up my towel with best buy will no longer get the urge to shop occasionally Amazon it's me and you 120% |
