Poll: Uncharted 2 vs. Modern Warfare 2

Okay no one else did it, so I decided to get the poll started. I voted for Uncharted because the single player was outstanding and the multiplayer was really fun and different. I enjoyed MW2 single player, but not as much as U2. The multiplayer and spec ops does shine, but UC2 was just something special.

Overall, the Uncharted series will always have more to offer me than the COD series. Even Uncharted: Drake's Fortune would get my vote over COD:MW2!

Voting should be based strictly on the entire package and not based on Single-Player or Multiplayer alone.

I'm going to abstain from voting for now. Like many have said before UC2 campaign > MW2 campaign, but MW2 online > UC2 online. Not to say that either game is deficient in one area, just with regards to the other.

It's a pretty easy call for U2. At the end of the day, MW2 is really just another CoD game--it's great of course, but we've been there before. Whereas, U2's innovative leaps are pretty much impossible to deny.

My vote goes to UC2 for several reasons. First, the single player has such a well done story mode that it feels like playing through a grade A movie. Second, the fact that they took what is essentially a single player kind of game and not only included multiplayer, but made it very good and fun, has got to count for a lot. Yes, i like MW2's online mp better, but that's because i prefer FPS to 3rd person for online play. And my biggest reason for it getting my vote for game of the year is that you really can tell that the team at Naughty Dog put their hearts into this game in every aspect. They pushed the graphics engine beyond what the first game could do (even though UC1 looks fantastic, even today), whereas Infinity Ward didn't push the graphics any farther than what COD4 did 2 years ago (some parts in mp mode look worse imo). Also, the script is very well written and the pacing in the sp mode is so much better in UC2 than in MW2 and the voice acting is superb in UC2. So, although both are great games, UC2 gets my vote because the sp mode is so much better and they really raised the bar with this game.

Multiplayer: Modern Warfare 2>Uncharted 2

IMO MW2 just doesn't offer enough. The SP and Co-op seem more like afterthoughts, so it's new maps and some tweaks, meh, same ol' same ol'.

U2 on the other hand has real co-op, MP, and great SP too. They really made it all it could be, so for me U2 is clearly the superior game.

Even though I have always been a fan of the CoD series and I will be putting much more time into MW2 than I did with U2 I still vote for U2. It brought way more to the table and shows what a true next gen game can achieve, I look at MW2 and all other multi platform games and cant help but think what it could be like if it wasn't dumbed down for other systems or if it utilized blu ray capabilities.

That's not entirely true. It is fair since there are two schools of thought when it comes to this years GAME OF THE YEAR. Many say that MW2 will get it because it's such a popular and dependable brand. Many others say that Uncharted 2 will get it because of innovation and captivation.

So, in that regard, they are completely comparable since they are both in the running for the 2009 crown.

Modern Warfare 2 is more likely to win Shooter Of The Year rather than Game Of The Year, since it sort of raised the bar on FPS multiplayers, but failed to exceed some of the expectations of Call Of Duty 4 in terms of single-player.

Uncharted 2 on the other hand really raised the bar on graphics and third-person action gameplay. Plus the multiplayer component makes a very strong competitor against Gears Of War 2's and even Call Of Duty 4's, so it is the obvious choice for Game Of The Year 2009 for most game sites and magazines.

Uncharted 2 is an easy pick for me. Being a single player guy, Uncharted 2's single player far outshined MW2 in every aspect. Story, Cinematics, Graphics, Soundtrack, Voice Work, MoCap. Everything about Uncharted 2 single player was amazing.

I just hope single player only games dont go away. Now with Bioshock and Dead Space 2 rumored to have multiplayer, but that is another topic for another day.

Uncharted 2 hands down

I haven't purchased it yet, but I've extensively looked into both already, and U2 is the clear winner for GOTY. There is no contest imo
