Awesome, Kino is killing it lately better than other specialty labels like "Scream" .. Only problem is I wish they would've held off and got the rights to all 4 of those McQueen films in this 4-disc set I have which includes, "Magnificent Seven", "The Great Escape", this film "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "The Sand Pebbles" which I've never seen, so if you have tell me is good or bad? But apparently it earned him an Oscar nomination.

Personally I woulda wanted "The Cincinnati Kid" which was once owned by the company that put all those other titles together, MGM & Fox, but it fell into the hands of Warner Bros. unfortunately in 2005 possibly early, 2005 was WB's first release of it on DVD.

Shit I forgot they're restoring "Junior Bonner" we got half of a box set if Kino can get two more quality McQueen films. Never seen it but Fox has US rights to "Towering Inferno." Maybe I'm just too hard on a film I've never seen, "The Sand Pebbles."

But McQueen and Peckinpah, is like the olden day equivalent of Tarantino & Jackson, always working together for the most part and always delivering the goods.

One last thing - I wish Universal would sack up and put out "The Getaway" remake with Alec Baldwin and rouges gallery of cool actors, including a young Phillip Seymour Hoffman, a scene or two with James Woods, oh and Kim Basinger not a bad reason to see, it's a fun sleazy action movie, the kind you'd catch on Cinemax around 1AM or so. I remember Michael Madsen being particularly hilarious in his and toying a breathy, sexy Jennifer Tilly. And the screenplay was written by Walter Hill and someone else, so it has that going for it too. Roger Donaldson directed and action is his specialty, he made his bones as a DP on a ton of films, he graduated to directing in '77. He did middle of the road fare like "No Way Out", "Cocktail", "White Sands", and this among others. I thought he did a Bond film but I guess he was just a DP on some of the them.

End of rant.

This is an incredible film. The first time I had seen it I couldn't believe it had escaped me up to that point. McQueen is brilliant in this film and the film truly is a great one. MAYBE a little slow at times, but this didn't bother me, because I couldn't take my eyes of McQueen or the beautiful locations.

Haven't seen the original '68 version but I enjoyed the Pierce Brosnan remake. Make it a double feature and you've got a sale

I'd go ape for a loaded SE of the 1999 version, one of my absolute favorite remakes. I really enjoy the original film as well, and will probably double-dip for this, but the remake trumps it. Rene Russo...

Splendid! Day 1 buy for sure. Never realized the score was by Michel Legrand.

My wife loves crime caper movies as well as older movies so hopefully she'll like this movie if I spring it on her. Though usually she just says, "why did you get this?"

Looks like KL did a good job on the restoration and it'll be as good as it gets short of releasing the movie in 4k.
