Well I into gaming (PS3 & Xbox 360), blu rays & sports and I was told I should go led Lcd.... I might also look into the Sony 46xbr8 if I could find a good deal on black Friday... Y do u ask??? I just want the best PQ possible! This will be my 3rd HDTV... My first was a samsung which gave me a lot of problems... Last yr I bought a 40xbr6 which I'm moving to bed from once I get a 50"+... any suggestions feel free

a v-series plasma from Panasonic or a Pioneer Kuro would at least match the picture quality of those sets(and IMO surpass them) and at a lower price.
The only concern with a plasma would be if the room it's going into has significant natural light with little light control. What it all comes down to is which you prefer. I would suggest you look at both in a properly controlled environment, i.e. not Best Buy(Magnolia is ok), perhaps a local home video store if you can find one. |

Motion resolution on plasmas is excellent, so sports and video games look great. In the past video games with static health bars or ammo could cause burn-in, but that isn't the case anymore. In fact, once a set is calibrated and pixel orbiter is engaged, Image Retention should be minimal for the first few hundred hours and nearly non-existant beyond that, most people never even notice it.
The only issue that plasmas have had with sports is that the displays are not as bright as LCDs, so people watching Sunday afternoon football with their shades up might have had a washed out image. If you have any semblance of lighting control, this shouldn't be an issue, besides anti-reflective screens and newer panels have improved plasmas abilities to handle such situations. |
