Default My Elite Won't Turn ON

Just finished moving the tv to my new place and after hooking everything up, the set won't turn on. When I press the power button a red light turns on in the back of the set but then it shuts off after a few seconds. I tried calling pioneer but they're closed. Does anyone know what to do? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Outside of unplugging the unit for a few minutes and then plugging it back in, nope. Did you move it standing vertically or lay it down flat? I've heard that you should never lay down plasmas flat but I don't know how valid that is or if it's just a myth.

I got into an argument with the people from Sears about this. They said plasmas should be shipped standing but LCD's are OK flat. This doesn't sit right with me personally as LCD screens have a tendency to bow inward when laid flat but the glass in a plasma is much more rigid. In fact I moved my 50" Dell plasma flat with my 15lb cat walking on it (it was covered with a blanket) when we moved into our house

Anyways I think the reason for transporting flat panels standing up (especially the larger ones) is to lessen the risk of the glass breaking. If you notice, the packaging of these TVs even say something like "transport standing up."

I have no doubt that is the reason, almost EVERYTHING says to transport upright, even old tube TV's said this (although if not stacked properly they would fall over) What frustrated me the most is that Sears INSISTED on putting the TV in the back of the truck any way but flat, so they leaned it at an angle...can you guess what happened half way home TV was fine when we got home but the noise of it falling and landing flat scared the crap out of me

OP - glad your Kuro is ok.

AS for everything else - the guy at Sears was 100% correct. LCDs, being plastic, can flex without harm. Better to ship upright, but not NEARLY as critical as plasma. The glass panel in a plasma will NOT flex, so if it's got to give (and the larger ones WILL), it's going to BREAK. Common sense (not so common anymore).

Glad that worked out for ya. Sometimes electronics just need to be reset with a power cycle. Works for printers and pc's too.
