I believe the master is the same one provided by Gala Film Distribution to licensees such as Lionsgate, Vicol, and Splendid. In comparison to those, the one on this Blu-ray features the following improvements:
1. 'Po Chi Lam, Canton' caption reinstated. 2. Regraded visual, reinstating the blue colour scheme in some scenes found in the Hong Kong and Taiwanese versions (I'm unsure about the international ones, though). Top-left: Metrodome [DVD] Top-right: Scholar [DVD] Middle: Gala Film Distribution Bottom-right: Force Video [DVD] Bottom-left: HK Vidéo [DVD] [Massive thanks to David M. for performing the above corrections.] Elsewhere:

Putting the additional scenes aside, the English version seems closer to the Taiwanese version in terms of editing (alternate shots during parody; different editing to a handful of shots here and there).
For their DVD, Metrodome may have used the English version as the visual base for their DVD (on account of there being no subtitles) and swapped out the credit sequences to the Hong Kong ones (although they replaced the title card with an English-only one), possibly unaware of its differences in relation to the Hong Kong one. Before their DVD, Metrodome issued two VHS: a Mandarin-language Hong Kong print (with a standards conversion), and the English version. Incidentally: [Show spoiler]

Great movie. Not up to standards of epics OUATIC I&II but better than part III&America. Some of comedy is bit off but have seen lot worse.
Cover(hk poster art) is quite ugly but it really does not matter as when in collection see spine anyway except when take it off from shelve for watching. But maybe new art will be produced too.. If/as Dragon Fight is unavailable(+maybe ST1&2 also in same situation) one Jet Li would like to see released is Bodyguard from Beijing. Last edited by ShawDonkey; 09-05-2023 at 04:48 AM. |

With Hitman now already scheduled my most wanted would be the Shaolin Temple trilogy. Remember loving those on VHS but I haven't seen them since.

Don't get your hopes to high in terms of the image quality. The HD transfer has quite some digitally processing done to it as is the case with many of these Gala Films titles. Not as heavy as e. g. STORY OF RICKY or GOD OF GAMBLERS 2 and 3, but it does not look as pristine as many other recently released titles.

In case you missed ST3 is in Shawscope 2 by arrow. It pretty much terminates hope of having trilogy boxset(unless Arrow wants to release it). It also has individual BR release in Germany.

![]() I think Japan billed Kids as a sequel but not Martial Arts. --edit Found this where Jet Li does kind of group them together: https://fvision.eu/bg/2016/07/12/jet-li-movies1/ Last edited by Thunderleg; 09-05-2023 at 02:19 PM. |

If the first two SHAOLIN TEMPLE films are released on BD in the UK the first part is guaranteed to be cut for animal cruelty.
