I was under the impression that the DeepDiscount code sale was twice a year, and the second was in November?
![]() I may be wrong, but if I am, could someone correct, and if not, does anyone know any dates thereof? (Granted, Blu's aren't really DD's thing, and the prices with code discounts are about the same as Amazon's prices, but I like to hold off my SD purchases for the occasion.) |

Pretty sure it's coming-- they would almost have to do it just to stay competitive with Amazon, Walmart, etc.
It may not happen though until around the Black Friday time period... Last edited by AKORIS; 11-05-2009 at 04:04 PM. Reason: error |

I think too many people see the items that are priced higher, make a blanket-statement conclusion about the site as a whole, and then ultimately cheat themselves out of good deals that they could be having. But, that's ok. Let people keep thinking that way. It just makes it easier for me to place my orders with the odds of the item going on back order being at least slightly lower than they would be if some people would actually pay closer attention to these deals. |

For some catalog titles? Probably, but too be honest, if you are looking for the cheapest price Amazon marketplace or Ebay will most likely be even cheaper for catalog titles. Maybe they will surprise us this year? And yes, their customer service is much worse than Amazon along with their stocking of titles, and their shipping times. For me, it has to be worth more than $1-2 to order from Deepdiscount vs Amazon or even Walmart.com. |

DD is basically a clearinghouse for regular DVD's, which is why they never really got established in Blu's and had to sell them at market retail--
While Amazon is a warehouse retailer from all over, and can get their Blu's wholesale from the usual sources. For those of us who remember the DVD transition--from Columbia House and Suncoast for VHS's, to DVDExpress.com for DVD's, and then to DeepDiscount when DVDExpress went RIP ![]() I've had to give up my old sentimentalities and realize that Amazon has the new default trophy for Blu prices, but DD still rules the DVD market. (Which means I can stockpile all my old SD impulse buys and MST3K sets for July and November.) |

I bought about 7 Blus in the last sale and 3 Blu TV sets and they were among the best prices I've ever seen for them. I doubt I'll buy anything if there's a November sale though, due to the great prices Amazon has had lately, but there are some decent deals.

i will pick up some blu criterion releases if they drop below the $20 mark maybe and some other random stuff as long as its a good deal. I bought a tone last sale since i was holding off buying for about 2 months. I had a huge wishlist

They recently jacked up their Criterion Blu-ray prices by 25%, so we won't save anything by buying Criterion titles during their sale. I was looking forward to that sale for Criterion. But the good news is that Barnes & Noble is having a 50% off Criterion sale starting November 10th, so I will check that out instead.

Deep Discount's semi-annual sale kicks off Friday Nov. 13 and runs until Sunday, Nov. 29.
All titles will be 40%-off of MSRP which means that the sale sucks for most of us. Since Amazon normally does 35% and over, a 40% sale is a minimal discount. |
