Default WMV files not working after upgrading PowerDVD

Has anyone noticed that after updating PowerDVD 7 Ultra to version 7.3.5711, it can no longer play wmv files? How do I fix the problem other than downgrading to earlier patch?

simple answer is to just to back to an older build. Don't you have audio sync issues with this patch?? The last 2 or 3 patches have been a mess...

I'm not having a problem at all with the latest 7.3 build. No audio sync issues or WMV issues. I would check to see if your audio drivers work very well. In addition, I had that sync issue when I was using onboard sound vs. a dedicated sound card. What is your system specs? I'm curious about what's going on with both of your systems. Again, I'm not having these problems at all.

Many people are reporting audio sync issues with these new builds, on AVS forums. I use analog audio so... I've never had audio issues before and once I went back to an older build, issue was gone.

I don't want to hijack his thread, just thought it would be another reason to change builds.

Which build of 7.3 do you have? The one before the last, 7.3.5105 has no wmv issue but the very latest one 7.3.5711 seems to have a problem playing wmv files. To find out which build you have, run PowerDVD, press CTRL-A, click This Product is licensed to .......

This is very interesting. I have the 12/8/08 build and notice how the first three are for Windows 7? Wow. Windows 7 must be giving people a great deal of problems. I've seen these problems on a brand new build from a friends computer. The date is my build according to the serial number it has the 12/8/08 date. Notice how the first three again from top to bottom are for Windows 7? Hell, what a damn headache.

Update: I have Vista and XP and I can confirm that the problem only occurs with XP.

BTW: does anyone know if the latest patch for RETAIL version 7.3.5711 works with Windows 7?
