Angry IGN sports an HD DVD bias?

Normally I like to check out IGN.com for gaming information, but I saw they had reviews for 300. They had reviews for the standard def and the HD-DVD, but not blu-ray. I was also floored that the HD-dvd version got straight 10's!! WTF? I don't care, but no movie is perfect, though 300 is a damn fine film. I'm just wondering, is this an HD-DVD backed site?

Nasty, check out Leonidas' abdominal muscles and 'elbow-pit' in the first shot, it's not as if just the grain's a bit blurry. Look at the edge of the out of focus background guys dark hair!

HD-DVD must die.

Default 300 HD DVD Review

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/807/807121p2.html

10's all across the board. As long as the Blu Ray version has the same specs this movie will look even more amazing than it did in the theatre.

yeah, the movie itself has quite a bit of grain, but the HD DVD version clearly looks worse for whatever reason and they both should have the same transfer...

Cool

I guarantee blu-ray won't get all 10's. I sense a bias toward hd-dvd over there. Doesn't matter though, I'm getting this no matter what!!

ign is very biased towards blu-ray. you will see at least 10 hd dvd reviews before one bd review.

Since the OP posted a link about a movie reviewed in HD-DVD, this thread should be moved.

Default Early Christmas present to myself

I saw this in the theater, I will rent this one till I get a PS3 because it is useless to by the DVD and then the Blu Ray version. The money I save on this can go into a PS3 fund. As of yet I have not set one up but I hope to buy my self an early Christmas present.

I also noticed that the STANDARD edition also received a 10/10.....kinda shoots holes in the hd-dvd bias theory?

They stated the lack of a blu-ray review was because there was a lack of a blu-ray disc.Apperantly these guys feel the same as i do,in so much as reviewing a disc before actually seeing it (or judging it by screenshots from a website) would not give you the full picture, or lead to a fair and qualified review. While i don't always agree with IGN's reviews, i have never seen any evidence that they are biased towoards any one platform or format.

If you look at IGN's scale a 10 rating is classifieds as "masterful", they dont have a rating of perfect. I suppose they agree with you that no movie can be perfect.

Of course it looks soft, it's a yet another bit-starved, VC-1 encoded, Warner smoothie; what were you expecting?
