USA Best Buy Disney SteelBooks™

I don't know if this has been posted but I am in BB and they have a steelbook for Monsters Inc, Ratatouille, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Pinocchio.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply delete all the unnecessary posts in the other thread though? Just a suggestion.

It would be interesting to know exactly how many of these were produced, lol. The final quantity certainly seems to be much higher than anyone initially believed.

Enough to pee off a lot of people, but it's the marketing behind it that's got to be the worse IMO.

I'm pretty sure there's less than 1000 bilinguals released.
For the others I'd say 10 000 could be a good guess.

It would if I wanted to waste my time doing that, maybe after Christmas when I have some free time
Its just easier to dump the whole thread since their are individual threads for each title

If you guys still wonder why the US doesn't get many blu-ray steelbooks we have a part of the answer here. They all sell out in a matter of minutes up here.

Cheers,
Gui.

Although the Disney ones seemed to sell out faster than anything else. Prior to the Pirates steelbooks, my local FS was always sold out of that week's Disney release a minute or less after opening. Most other steelbook releases at FS tend to last until the afternoon of release day, or early evening.

The sales of the Disney steelbooks probably aren't a good representation of a normal releases, though. A lack of communication between the BB?FS parent company and its customers, misinterpretations of the communications that did exist and scalpers all managed to weirdly manipulate the market around these Disney steels. Thanks to that we've now bounced back to the opposite extreme, with many BB stuck with extent stock sitting on their shelves that's unlikely to move.

They sold out in a matter of minutes up there 'cos the demand for them DOWN HERE was great (thanks to some mis-information or lack of if you will during the early weeks). Once the demand was solved locally, that selling out in minutes stopped almost immediately, didn't it?

Helped along by the fact it all happened around the release of the Pirates trilogy, which were never going to be as popular as the Disney Animated Classics and Pixar titles.

Normally, FS steelbooks do indeed sell out by the end of the day, if not sooner in the case of some releases. There've only been a couple exceptions, and they were noteworthy for that reason.

99% of the people in the US don't know what a Steelbook is, won't pay extra for it, and most don't have a Blu-Ray player or HDTV.

DVD and VHS is still high tech down here for many of us.
