Finally getting a PS3

I will finally be able to join the PS3 ranks come Christmas time and I absolutley cannot wait. Either I will be getting one Christmas Eve or be buying one on the 26th, it's going to be a blast. I did have a 360, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore and the PS3 really does have the better hardware. Not to mention I can watch blu rays and enjoy all my movies in HD. I just can't wait. I just wondered what games you guys would recommend and any other suggestions. I plan on picking up Assassin's Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 soon after getting one. Thanks guy and hopefully I'll see you guys soon on PSN.

First welcome to the PSN Nation . I own a 360 and PS3 and trust me, the PS3 is a way better system.

The first game you should get is Uncharted 2. That game shows what the PS3 can do. The first Uncharted is also on sale for $39. These are a few more must haves in addition to the ones you've listed:

Metal Gear Solid - I think it's on sale for $29 or $39
Killzone 2 - this is a must have for FPS games
God of War Collection
Dead Space
Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction
Demon's Soul

ACII (Make sure you keep it because there is DLC coming in Jan/Feb)

...except for the fact that more pre-teens and teens are infatuated with sports and FPS games than R&C.

you dont know what teens play uncharted as nobody plays it online

online = all that matters to me.

the only game i play offline are
gran turismo prologue & mgs4.

LittleBigPlanet is a must-buy. Killzone 2 is another game no one mentioned (EDIT: sorry, I must a couple posts at the top because obviously 2 people do mention it!). If you're into RPGs, then Oblivion, Dragon Age Origins, Demon's Souls and Disgaea 3 are options.

I also wondered if anyone knew how good it would look with a sony bravia 32' 720p HDTV. I know it's not 1080p, but I don't sit far away at all so I probably won't notice the difference, but you never know.

I think you'll be happy with the results. Very few games benefit from 1080 over 720 anyway.

Ummm I said Ratchet and Clank and that's because it's on sale for $29. It's a fun game and is a change of pace from the games I normally play.

720 is just fine! Most games are ``only´´ 720 anyway.. As for great games:

Dead Space (My personal favourite)
Killzone 2
Modern Warfare 2

I'm sure Uncharted 2 is great too although I haven't played it

Yea 720p should be fine. You won't notice the difference at all.

Most PS3 games run in 720p anyhow -- so you're in luck!
