Will these work on U.S. (Region A) PS3 players? I thought I read somewhere that all Sony BDs are Region Free?

Sony BDs are region coded, but only when the film is still in a theatrical window. Otherwise they are region free, which means: The Spideys will be region free.

But I'm sure we will see an anouncement for the US soon...

Well thats my pre-order in for it.. Since I'm in the U.K the region coding does'nt worry me but I did read somewhere that all european releases were region free... or was that made up nonsense?

I would be VERY surprised if these came out in the UK before the US, I think you can safely wait till you can order the US versions.

I'm not sure; maybe it was true at one time but no longer. Entertainment in Video (UK) announce there first wave of Blu-ray titles all to be coded Region B.

i saw that on amazon as well - i checked all their blu-rays that have release dates for the uk but not for the us-they all say they are region free....Gangs in New York is one they have on pre-order that i'm really hoping will show up over here.

Does anyone know if the UK versions even have the same quality video/audio as the US does?

I could see audio tracks potentially being dropped, but that's more likely to be commentaries as with the Pirates discs, but why would you think the picture quality would be inferior?

The thing which i find funny is that Play has Spidey 3 listed at £17.99 where as all three movies are going for £39.99. £17.99 x 3 = £53.97!

I know Sony are being generous at the moment but seems strange that they would let their biggest movies go for that price. Anyone else agree?

Pre-order as soon as you can then so they cannot change the price on you.
