Default I love Germany.

I'm a big fan of cult and horror cinema and for whatever reason, the UK seems to only get the most mainstream of films (and even that is a stretch, as major cinema released horror films of the last decade are still patchily released over here) and everything else is either condemned to region a or DVD hell. Why does this happen? I dunno, but it's annoying.

Upon discovery this forum, and by proxy what regions the rest of the world is using, Germany opened the doors for me to get my hands on old favourites or possibly new ones too that just don't look like they're ever going to be released over here in the UK. I dunno why Germany seem to get the rights to like every cult horror film ever released but I'm grateful and thanks to Amazon allowing you to buy from there and the shipping being cheap, it also doesn't cost me any more to import.

So thanks Germany, you guys are the best.

I love Germany too, they're nuts about movies it seems. A lot of my BDs and DVDs are German imports, simply because they're not out anywhere else, or the German versions are (or were) superior to other releases.

I agree about Germany. One of the reasons given has been because of their soaring economy. People have lots of spending money and are buying up anything on Blu-ray.

What are some good Germany-only releases? The German forum on here seems really sparse and there don't seem to be good topics about specific labels on there besides a couple that just specialize in Italian movies and westerns and only have about 15 discs to their name. I've been importing a ton of stuff from the UK but don't have any german discs cause I'm not really aware of any besides that recent Suspiria release.

I echo this. Germany tends to release a lot of odd movies that simply don't become available anywhere else and it lets you score a few really interesting titles particularly from the 1970's and 80's. Keep them coming Germany, much appreciated.

I also buy a lot of product from Germany. Not only cult titles, but a lot of studio titles that haven't been relesed anywhere else. I have an order coming which includes Cannonball Run 2! I purchased my Batman TV Series Blu-ray set from Germany and came out way, way, waaaay cheaper than it would have cost me in Canada or the U.S.

Can you please give me some links? I have an interest in odd and rare films but do not know how to access the German sites. Mind you, I cannot speak German and they need to be English friendly.

What I do is research the titles I'm interested in on this site, then go to Amazon Germany through google chrome(it translates it for you).

Thank you. I have used Amazon Germany several times. Many English friendly titles like Odd Thomas, Europa Report etc came out far earlier on BD in Germany than they did elsewhere.

I'm in the US and import a lot of German titles as well. It's amazing how many American horror films that are not available here but you can get them from Germany. The only thing you have to be careful for is some crazy censorship over there.
