I have a xbr9 in the bedroom. I have a sammy 650b plasma in the living room and I was comparing same movies and tvs shows on both tvs side by side. I must say I am really impressed with black levels on the Sony XBR9. I did this on many blu rays with lights off and same thing amazing blacks.
I have been thinkg of moving the XBR9 to living room and selling the plasma. But, how do the newer sony edge lit HX800 compare to the xbr9. |

I have owned an XBR9 for more than a year now. The TV has great black levels close enough to those of LEDs.
I played around with an HX800 at best buy because they had the remote in front of it. After I tweak it a little, it looked great. I would say they are pretty close. I would be happy with it. One thing however... I am not happy with the XBR9 viewing angle. I am have never owned a plasma but I hear viewing angles are in general better. I guess it is want thing to consider if you have a lot of people watching the TV at once. |

In my opinion the XBR9 is a great tv with excellent PQ and great blacks. How does it compare to the edge lit HX800? I would give the HX800 a very slight edge but not much. I would stick with your XBR9. Again this is only my opinion though. |

I agree. Like my dad said the other day, you can never really keep up with technology, its constantly changing. You just gotta be happy with the picture quality you got.
